Prelude is not a standalone game; it requires a copy of Quartermaster General WW2 to play, and it can also be used with the Quartermaster General Total War expansion. This second edition of Prelude introduces two new cards and includes several clarifications from the first edition.
The game features two types of Prelude cards: Armament and History cards. History cards function similarly to Event cards in the main game, while Armament cards are played facedown, like Response cards in the regular game. Prelude cards have unique effects and mechanics compared to the regular game cards. Players use a separate draw deck and discard pile for Prelude cards, most of which are returned to the box before starting the main game.
