The SME 3009 is one of the most iconic and enduring tonearms in hi-fi history, originally introduced in the early 1960s by SME (Scale Model Equipment Co.) in England.

The SME 3009 Series II is the original, non-Improved version of SME’s classic nine-inch precision tonearm, manufactured in England before Series II production ended in 1972. It features the distinctive curved arm tube, knife-edge vertical bearing, detachable headshell, calibrated rider-weight tracking-force system and hanging-weight bias adjustment.

The sliding bedplate allows precise cartridge alignment, while adjustable arm height and lateral balance provide flexibility when installing the arm on a compatible turntable or plinth. This is the earlier full-mass Series II design and should not be confused with the later, 3009 Series II Improved model.

Condition:

• This is a used unit.
  
  
• Physically this unit is in great condition for its age. It shows some light wear from use and age. This includes some light scuffs and slight signs of oxidisation. Nothing major at all. There is nothing which detracts from the use or sound of this beautiful tonearm.
  
  
• This sale includes a SME wiring loom. This also shows some general signs of age, but nothing major. Please see photos.
  
  
• This tone arm has been tested and is working very well!
  
  
• The SME 3009 is definitely for people who are experienced with turntables and setting up tone arms. This is because this unit is delicate and require fine precision to set up. We will not be able to remotely help with set up or installation. So please ensure you are confident before purchase or have a technician who can install it for you. (If you are able to visit our store in West Gosford, NSW we could help with set up)
