This is my largest rug design based on my weaving yet. I learned a lot before tackling this project, especially about weaving with handspun wool, which varies in thickness. Experimenting with natural dyes like yellow onion skins added depth to the colors. Spinning yarn during the pandemic allowed me to refine my skills, transitioning from a hand spindle to a spinning wheel. This period of isolation gave me the opportunity to envision and create intricate designs on the loom. Incorporating techniques from my early weaving days, alongside self-taught designs, I showcased my ability to create beautiful textiles using only natural materials and my own hands.
