This is the only Damascus seax knife at JW Steel Crafts with a rosewood handle, brass bolster, and brass pommel in this 15-inch Viking style configuration.

The History Behind This Blade

The seax was the primary blade of Viking Age Scandinavia from roughly 500 to 1100 AD. Every free Norse man and woman carried a seax as their daily utility knife — long enough for serious fieldwork, narrow enough for close tasks, and balanced for extended carry on the belt. The word seax simply meant knife in Old Norse. Seax blades ranged from short utility knives to long fighting blades exceeding 24 inches. The 10-inch working seax became the standard everyday carry length across Norse settlements from Scandinavia to the British Isles. Rosewood and brass fittings entered Viking-inspired knife craft through the 19th century European revival of Norse blade traditions. The JW Steel Crafts Damascus seax carries that same Viking working blade tradition in every forged piece.

Blade Performance

The blade is forged from layered Damascus steel in a wave pattern finish. The long narrow seax profile gives you a full 10-inch cutting surface for camp work, food prep, field dressing, and heavy outdoor tasks. The slight upward curve toward the tip allows precise piercing and detail work alongside the long primary edge. The wave pattern varies naturally across every blade due to the forging process — no two blades carry an identical finish. Full tang construction runs through the entire rosewood handle and spreads weight evenly from blade tip to pommel base for stable and controlled cutting throughout extended field use.

Handle and Brass Fittings

The handle is shaped from rosewood. Rosewood has a deep reddish-brown tone with a tight, dense grain that resists moisture and holds its surface finish through daily outdoor and field use. Natural grain variation means every handle has a distinct appearance. A brass bolster sits between the blade and handle, adding front-end weight for better cutting balance and protecting fingers during heavy push cuts. A brass pommel caps the handle base, adding rear-end weight that balances the long 10-inch blade and gives the knife its classic Viking seax profile from tip to base.

Leather Belt Sheath

The burgundy leather sheath features tan stitching and a belt loop tab for secure waist carry during hunting, camp work, and outdoor use. The JW SteelCrafts stamp is embossed on the sheath for a clean presentation finish. The sheath seats the full 10-inch blade firmly with no movement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a seax knife?

The seax was the everyday carry blade of Viking Age Norse culture. It features a long narrow blade with a straight spine and slight tip curve — built for camp work, field tasks, and extended daily carry on the belt.

What do the brass bolster and pommel do?

The brass bolster adds front-end weight for better cutting balance. The brass pommel caps the handle base and adds rear-end counterweight that balances the long 10-inch blade across the full knife length.

Is rosewood durable for outdoor use?

Yes. Rosewood is dense and tight-grained. It resists moisture and holds its deep reddish-brown surface finish through heavy outdoor and field use.

Is the leather sheath included?

Yes. The burgundy leather sheath with tan stitching and belt loop tab is included for safe carry and field storage.

Is this knife full tang?

Yes. The tang runs the full length of the rosewood handle for strength, balance, and long-term durability under heavy outdoor use.

Works great. Better air flow and engine power than the stock Honda air filter. Also cheaper than the OEM air filter.

Two Filters, Quick and Easy
Size: 16-23 Tacoma, Size: 16-23 Tacoma
The RVgolf Engine+Cabin Air Filters Kit for the Toyota Tacoma V6 comes with two air filters. There is a cabin air filter that fits nicely into the compartment accessed through the glove box and an engine air filter that dropped in easily in the compartment under the hood. Replacement of both filters was easy, didn’t require any tools, and it took more time to empty and replace the items in the glove box than it did to replace both filters. The Toyota dealership quoted me $80 to replace the cabin air filter only. I replaced both filters for less than $30. The filters felt like they were good quality. The engine air filter is multi-layered, with a thin foam layer to keep larger debris from blocking the finer paper filter. The cabin air filter said and looked like it had a carbon layer to absorb smells. The only concern I had was size. After I had replaced both filters I went to slide the engine air filter I replaced into the RVgolf box to throw it away. The engine air filter I replaced would not slide into the RVgolf box. It was too big. After driving for a few days and a couple of hundred miles, I popped the hood and checked the fit of the engine air filter. The fit looked perfect. See attached photos.

Fits 2019 accord (gas engine)
Size: 18-22 Accord
Dealer was going to charge almost $200 to change both of these filters in my 2019 accord. These filters fit perfectly and of same quality as the dealer product. Easy to install, saving me lots of money.

Great quality and Easy to install
Size: 18-22 Accord
As someone with zero experience changing air filters, I was honestly surprised at how easy this was. The fit was perfect for my 2010 Honda Accord Sport, and both the cabin and engine air filters installed with no issues at all. It even came with clear, easy-to-follow instructions that made the whole process stress-free. Saved myself money from going to the dealership, and my car is running great. Definitely recommend for beginners wanting to do a simple DIY maintenance job.
