De Fagus sylvatica 'Rohan Weeping', bekend als de Rode Treurbeuk, is een opvallende cultivar binnen de beukenfamilie. Dit boompje is bijzonder vanwege zijn treurende groeivorm en de kleur van zijn bladeren. De groeihoogte stopt bij max 3 meter. De hangende takken kunt u eventueel terugsnoeien. Treurende groeivorm

Deze kleine 'Rohan Weeping' beuk onderscheidt zich door zijn unieke groeivorm. De takken hangen naar beneden, wat een sierlijk en treurig effect geeft. Deze vorm maakt de boom een opvallend element in elk landschapsontwerp en is vooral aantrekkelijk wanneer de boom volledig uitgroeit.

Bladkleur en textuur

De bladeren van de Rode Treurbeuk zijn opmerkelijk vanwege hun kleur. Ze beginnen in het voorjaar met een dieprode tot paarse tint en veranderen in de zomer naar een donkerder, bijna bordeauxrood. De textuur van het blad is ook opmerkelijk: het is diep gegroefd en heeft een leerachtige uitstraling.

Winterhardheid

De Fagus sylvatica 'Rohan Weeping' is goed winterhard en heeft in de winter bruin blad, dus niet volledig bladverliezend. Dit treurboompje behoudt zijn structuur in de winter, waardoor hij ook buiten het groeiseizoen interessant is.
