De Alois Lageder Gaun Chardonnay DOC is een volle Chardonnay die is gefermenteerd en gerijpt in stalen tanks en in houten vaten. De druiven komen van de wijngaarden en de naam leidt ons terug naar de familie Baron Gaun in de 17e eeuw, de eerste eigenaren van de residentie Löwengang. Het is een rijke wijn vol met tropisch fruit.

Italiaanse wijnen van Alois Lageder

Zonder twijfel kunnen we Alois Lageder toch wel een van de grootste Italiaanse wijnproducenten noemen. Zijn grootvader bouwde in 1855 het fundament van dit wijnhuis in Trentino en Alois Lageder bouwde hierop voort. Hij is geboren en getogen in Adigevallei en daardoor wist hij precies hoe de beste druiven die populair zijn uit dit gebied te verbouwen. De wijngaarden in Magrè en Salorno liggen op een hoogte van 230 tot 500 meter. De bodem bestaat uit zand en kalkstenen en de wijnstokken die hierop staan aangeplant zijn tussen de 10 en 40 jaar oud. De druiven genieten hier van een koel microklimaat met grote verschillen tussen dag en nacht temperaturen. Dit is belangrijk om voldoende frisheid en zuren in de druiven te bewaren. De druiven groeien op zandige, grindachtige kalkbodems. In de wijngaard heerst een warm microklimaat met grote temperatuurverschillen tussen dag en nacht. De druiven worden met de hand bij optimale rijpheid geoogst. De druiven worden in de wijnmakerij streng geselecteerd en zacht geperst. Daarna volgt een spontane fermentatie van de most. Tot slot rijpt de wijn voor 5 maanden deels in houten vaten en deels in roestvrijstalen tanks.

De karaktervolle Gaun Chardonnay

Deze Gaun Chardonnay kleurt goudgeel in het glas met groene reflecties. Aroma’s van witte peer. Het geheel wordt ondersteund met lichte, fijne mineraliteit, maar ook met een subtiel botertje. In de mond net zo uitgesproken van karakter. Vol, maar zeer goed gestructureerd dankzij een grote zuurgraad. Opnieuw peer en lichte hints van tropisch fruit. En als afsluiter een heerlijk frisse langdurige afdronk. Heerlijke spanning, vol en elegant.

Taking another look at this book

I am revising my review in fairness to the author. I purchased this book on the secondary market. For my initial review I had not read the book cover to cover. This book features an anthology of philosophical excerpts and writings on different topics concerning contemporary issues in ethics. The author prefaces each topic section with an overview of the pertinent legal, historical and social developments. This is followed by contributions on the subject from different philosophical viewpoints. Some of these contributions can be rather turgid, others easily digestible. As a whole, I find the book to offer good coverage of the topics. The book addresses many ethical issues with a fair degree of contemporaneous coverage but more ethical questions of seminal import are required. For instance, perhaps there ought to be other topics introduced for future revisions that are more poignant to life in the national security state, such as the ethics of social vigilance in response to domestic government spying, the abrogation of habeas corpus and war crimes such as droning and torture. These are serious ethical conundrums in our society that deserve consideration in any philosophy course focusing on contemporary issues in ethics. Having a more comprehensive reading of this book I have significantly upgraded my appreciation of its coverage and the work that went into it and I would recommend it to professors looking to introduce ethics studies in a philosophy curriculum.

Had to get this book for a required class. This book is unreadable. It is written in an outdated language of old philosophers. The book itself if unethical. It starts out with one inch margins then once you get into it they switch to half inch margins. That's deceitful. Everyone I have talked to in the class can't stand the book. l read it because I have to, but I'm not getting anything out of it. Humanity is certainly lacking ethics these days, but this book is a waste of my time and if I'm struggling reading it, I doubt anyone who actually needs to read this book will make it through more than a page.
