Dit boek vertelt zijn levensverhaal, zoals hij het in vele gesprekken vertelde aan de schrijver van dit boek, Dick Gebuys. Het verhaal van iemand die geen uitdaging uit de weg ging die het leven hem bood en die de lessen die hij daaruit trok meenam op zijn levenspad om daaruit een positieve kijk op dat leven af te leiden. En een visie op onze maatschappij en de politiek, die heel erg bij deze tijd past. Het verhaal van iemand die alle kansen greep om zich te ontwikkelen. En die zich steeds is blijven ontwikkelen.

Hamits verhaal is lesmateriaal voor al degenen die de mond vol hebben van integratie. Het biedt ook hoop voor al die jongeren die de steile lad­ders van onze samenleving beklimmen. Het kan maar je moet het wel echt willen. Hamit deed dat en hij zij geprezen. Lees en leer!

Meer over de auteur

Dick Gebuys (1954) werd geboren in Rotterdam. Hij groeide op in Feijenoord en Charlois. Hij haalde zijn middelbare schooldiploma op de SG. Hugo de Groot. Studeerde daarna Nederlands aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, afstudeerrichting Middeleeuwse taal- en letterkunde (bij Herman Pleij). Studeerde vervolgens Middeleeuwse geschiedenis aan de Universiteit van Gent (bij Walter Prevenier en Ludo Milis). Werd in 1979 leraar op het Sintermeertencollege in Heerlen. Speelde met leerlingen veelvuldig toneel. Organiseert sinds 1979 ook literaire en culturele activiteiten: in Heerlen, Rotterdam, Dordrecht, Gent, Hasselt, Maastricht, HCMC en Hanoi. Deed 30 maal een boekenweekprogramma voor het Theater Landgraaf. Werkt al 20 jaar in de Pauluskerk in Rotterdam aan literaire projecten met de bezoekers. Debuteerde als dichter in 1984 met ‘De vrede van Galilea’, de eerste van 5 dichtbundels. Nam deel aan verschillende internationale onderwijsconferenties, vanuit zijn discipline van cultuur- en literatuuronderwijs. Vertaalde in 2015 Vietnamese verhalen van de schrijfster Di Li uit het Engels in het Nederlands, gepubliceerd in Hanoi onder de titel ‘Cocktail’. Gedichten van hem werden in het Vietnamees vertaald en gepubliceerd in het Vietnamese literatuurmagazine Van Nhieu.

It was worth every cent

I have BPPV. It's a condition where tiny ear crystals come out of place and move within your ear canals - this fools your brain into thinking you're in motion, causing severe dizziness. The most common treatment is the Epley Maneuver, and that actually helps a lot. However, I was going through a period where every single day I'd wake up with severe dizziness. Even if I managed to do the Epley Maneuver and it worked, the entire rest of the day would be ruined because I'd still feel generally unwell and nauseous. I ended up getting a book about BPPV and the author strongly recommended sleeping at at least a 30 degree angle. So, that's why I ended up buying this wedge pillow... I started using it April 26 and today is May 17. Since I began using it as a pillow, I have not woke up dizzy again. That is so huge! It may be that sleeping at a 30 degree angle deserves 5 Stars but thought I'd give this pillow 5 Stars too, as it's been a great experience. If you suffer from this, here's how the angle should be...If you lay your head on a pillow and open your eyes, you should not be looking at the ceiling. With the right angle, you should be looking at where the wall meets the ceiling. If so, you know you're at the right angle. As far as pillow itself, I'd say the pillow case fabric is of average quality. Not really remarkable in any way. It seems decent. Good value for the price. The inside is firm (which is just what I needed) but comfortable, and I tend to not move around much the entire night. I like this very much and if it does start wearing out, I'll definitely come back here and buy another. Would recommend.
