Bloemen en bloeitijd

De opvallende, schermvormige bloemen hebben een blauwe kleur en bloeien vanaf ca. juli tot oktober. De bloemen groeien vaak samen met vier prachtige bloembladeren. Naast de bloembladeren groeien kleurgelijke zaden rondom de bloemen. De bladeren van de Schermhortensia zijn groen van kleur en zijn licht bedekt met haartjes. De Waterstruik verdraagt een temperatuur tot -20 graden Celsius.

Standplaats in de tuin

Deze tuinplant is zeer geschikt voor open tuinen met bijvoorbeeld een enkele volwassen boom of heester. Plaats de Hortensia serrata 'Bluebird' in de halfschaduw, maar nooit in de schaduw. Een Waterstruik zal dan niet bloeien. De beste tijd om deze struik te planten is in het voorjaar (maart) of het najaar (oktober). Graaf een gat die 3x zo groot is als de stronk van de Waterstruik. Vul de bodem van dit gat met potgrond/hortensiagrond. Stamp de grond goed aan een geef ruim water.

Bodem

De Waterstruik doet het goed in een zure tot neutrale grond (pH = 4.5 - 7). De bodem van een Waterstruik behoort matig voedselrijk, vochtig tot vochthoudend te zijn. Tijdens warm weer is het belangrijk de grond goed vochtig te houden, zodat de bloemen niet verkleuren of gaan hangen. Bijzonderheden

De Hortensia Waterstruik heeft een lange bloeitijd en zijn niet wintergroen. Daarnaast zijn ze erg populair als borderplant of haag. De plant is niet gevoelig voor ziekte en vraagt weinig onderhoud, maar staat bovenal ook erg mooi in de tuin!

Good but confusing instructions
It is very glowy. After spraying this on my husband commented on why I was sweating so much 😹 I told him it’s my face mist spf. I have very dry and very sensitive skin and this has not broken me out (yet). I’ve used it for about a week now. I don’t know how much sun protection I’m really getting though.
