De Y-3 Elite 5 GFX Hoodie komt uit de Elite 5 capsule, het SS26-eerbetoon van Y-3 aan vijf iconen die het rugnummer 5 delen: Zinedine Zidane, Jude Bellingham, Anthony Edwards, Garrett Wilson en oprichter Yohji Yamamoto zelf. Als centrale pullover van die lijn draagt de hoodie het GFX varsity-logo op de borst en een grafische '5' op de rug, vormgegeven in de baseball-esthetiek waarnaar de hele capsule verwijst. De stof is 100% katoen in een French terry weving met een geborstelde, zachte binnenzijde. Verlaagde schouders, een ruim gesneden lijf en een getrokken capuchon geven de hoodie zijn relaxte silhouet. Geribde manchetten en zoom houden het volume in toom, terwijl een kangoeroezak vooraan de functionele basis aanvult. Op de mouw zit een geweven label met het Y-3-logo en de handtekening van Yohji Yamamoto. Gemaakt in China combineert deze Y-3 hoodie sportieve constructie met de minimalistische subversie waar het label om bekendstaat.

De pasvorm is oversized en valt op maat binnen die ruime opzet, met verlaagde schoudernaden die het volume verdelen. Wil je een minder nadrukkelijk oversized silhouet, neem dan een maat kleiner dan je normaal draagt. De French terry is stevig maar soepel en behoudt na het wassen zijn vorm zonder veel rek. De capuchon staat door de getrokken vorm netjes op zonder te verzakken. Was koud zodat het katoen niet krimpt en de graphics scherp blijven.

Draag de zwarte Y-3 Elite 5 GFX Hoodie met een wijde joggingbroek of een rechte jeans uit dezelfde capsule en lage sneakers voor een complete sport-luxe look. Het varsity-logo voor en de '5' achter geven de hoodie zijn verhaal en maken hem herkenbaar zonder luid te zijn. Dat capsule-verhaal maakt hem nu een verzamelbaar stuk.

Y-3 is sinds 2002 de samenwerking tussen adidas en Yohji Yamamoto, een van de langstlopende kruisbestuivingen tussen sport en mode. Het label vertaalt technische sportcodes consequent naar Yamamoto's zwarte, minimalistische taal. Deze hoodie staat midden in die traditie.

UPDATE 2: The vendor proactively reached out to me and sent me a replacement. The replacement works well so I’ve given them 5 Stars. UPDATE: It really doesn’t ever go in straight so every cork is at risk for breaking off. I lowered rating to two. It ultimately works about 85% of the time. Meh. Works most of the time, but has issues. It wrecks corks much more often than the Brookstone one we had before. It seems to twist in sideways so that it runs along the glass of the bottle neck instead of straight down. This causes it to destroy the corks fairly frequently… and on occasion it destroys it so much that you can’t get the cork out at all. Pros: Quiet Has the bottle sealers and suction. Recharges on base. Cons: Damages corks Sometimes destroys corks to point of not being able to extract them. Goes in crooked.
