The 2016 vintage is made from a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. At Château Lynch-Bages, flowering in 2016 began late (May 30), a phenomenon linked to the freshness and heavy rainfall in April and May. Then, the window of good weather that sets in from June 2 to 12 allows uniform flowering. After further rains, summer sets in on June 25. The summer is marked by heat and drought and the rains of September 13 provide the vines with the water necessary to revive and perfect the ripening of the berries. The very beautiful late season allows Château Lynch-Bages to carry out very large harvests with serenity. With a deep garnet color, Château Lynch-Bages 2016 reveals exceptional maturity. Expressive, the nose develops aromas of blackcurrant and sour cherries, to which are added subtle notes of fresh mint. On the palate, the attack is punchy, fresh and lets develop a very smooth mid-palate, with enveloped and elegant tannins. It should be noted that despite this tannic youth, the tannins are remarkable.
