Dark Pact Basics

To win the deck-building game Dark Pact, you must fulfill the condition of one of the game's thirteen Dark Pacts, each with a unique way to achieve victory.

At the start of the game, every player has a deck of ten cards, which may include actions, treasures, or multipliers. The game plays clockwise, with players taking turns until someone successfully completes a Dark Pact. There are two types of Dark Pacts:

Keeper Dark Pacts remain in play, and if you meet their condition based on the cards in your play area, you win.
Instant Dark Pacts are played as an action, and if you meet their condition using the cards in your hand, you win.
If no one completes a Dark Pact and the deck runs out of cards, the player with the highest Insight minus Curses wins instead.

On your turn, you start by playing one action card from your hand. Certain action cards allow you to play additional actions, draw cards, gain cards from the supply, exile cards, and more. Some cards can attack opponents, and they may respond by revealing a react card. Played cards remain in your play area.

After actions, you may purchase cards from the supply. Play treasure cards from your hand to gain coins, noting that some action cards may also generate coins. You can purchase cards from the ten-card general supply or from your grimoire, which starts with three specific cards and can be expanded during the game.

Actions and treasures can be enhanced by playing x2 or x3 multiplier cards at the same time. Multipliers affect all numerals on the action or treasure card, whether they refer to coins, actions, draws, curses, or any other effect.

At the end of your turn, resolve any clean-up effects on cards in play, then discard all played cards (except those that remain in play, such as Keeper Dark Pacts) and any cards from your hand that you don’t want. Finally, draw cards to refill your hand to five.

The game’s solitaire mode pits you against a bot that attempts to win in one of three different ways, providing an additional challenge.
