Het groeit van nature in de tropische regenwouden van deze regio's. De plant gedijt in vochtige, schaduwrijke omgevingen en klimt vaak tegen bomen op met behulp van luchtwortels. Vanwege zijn aantrekkelijke bladeren met zilverkleurige vlekken, is de Scindapsus pictus populair als kamer- en kantoorplant.

Standplaats

Plaats de Scindapsus op een lichte plek, maar niet in direct zonlicht. Hoe lichter de plant staat, hoe bonter de tekeningen op het blad worden.

Waterbehoefte

Zorg dat de potgrond licht vochtig blijft aanvoelen. In de winter verbruikt de plant veel minder water dan in warmere periodes. Een klein scheutje water per week is dan voldoende. Let op met water geven: de plant 'lekt' bij teveel water. Aan de bladpunten zal het blad dan het overtollige water "uitzweten".

Geef de plant regelmatig een sproeibeurt met de plantenspuit. Zo verwijder je stof en houd je ongedierte op afstand.
