Wijngaarden en regio
De basis van deze wijn ligt in de zuidelijke Rhône, waar zon, wind en bodem samen zorgen voor witte wijnen met karakter.
- Ligging / Herkomst: De druiven komen van kleine wijnbouwers uit de Rhônevallei die al jarenlang met Maison Brotte samenwerken. Daarmee staat deze wijn stevig in de brede Côtes du Rhône-appellatie, binnen een regio die zich over ongeveer 200 km langs beide oevers van de Rhône uitstrekt.
- Bodem: Brotte selecteert hier wijngaarden op slibrijke kleibodems met veel zoninval. Die combinatie helpt om rijp fruit en voldoende breedte in de wijn te krijgen.
- Klimaat & invloeden: In het zuidelijke deel van de Rhône overheerst een mediterraan klimaat met droge zomers en winters. De mistral speelt hier een belangrijke rol, omdat deze wind vocht snel wegneemt en de wijngaarden gezond houdt.
- Wijngaard & oogst: In de wijngaard werkt Brotte met duurzame teelt, strenge wintersnoei, groene oogst en ontbladering om de opbrengst te beperken. De oogst gebeurt handmatig op het moment dat de druiven optimaal rijp zijn.
Vinificatie en rijping
In de kelder kiest Brotte hier voor een aanpak die frisheid en textuur heel precies in balans houdt.
- Oogst & Selectie: De druiven worden direct en zacht pneumatisch geperst bij lage druk. Dat helpt om de most zuiver en verfijnd te houden vanaf het eerste moment.
- Vergisting: Na een koude bezinking gedurende 1 nacht bij 10 °C vergist de wijn in temperatuurgecontroleerde roestvrijstalen tanks bij 16–18 °C. Die koele vergisting behoudt de frisse fruitexpressie en houdt de aromatiek helder en precies.
- Rijping / Houtopvoeding: Er vindt geen malolactische gisting plaats, zodat de wijn zijn levendige frisheid bewaart. Daarna volgt 6 maanden rijping op fijne lies met regelmatige bâtonnage in roestvrijstaal, wat extra ronding en textuur geeft zonder het fruit te verzwaren.
Druivensamenstelling
De blend is klassiek zuidelijk Rhône, met Grenache Blanc als dragende kracht en aromatische ondersteuning van Clairette en Viognier.
- Grenache Blanc – Côtes du Rhône: Grenache Blanc vormt hier de basis en geeft de wijn zijn rijpe kern, zachte aanzet en de herkenbare combinatie van citrus en exotisch fruit.
- Clairette – Côtes du Rhône: Clairette brengt extra verfijning in de blend en ondersteunt het frisse, florale karakter van de wijn.
- Viognier – Côtes du Rhône: Viognier zorgt voor extra aromatische breedte, met tonen die richting perzik en witte bloemen gaan.
Proefnotities en serveertips
Helder goudgeel met enkele groene reflecties in het glas, met in de neus abrikoos, citrus en witte bloemen. In de mond opent hij fris, gevolgd door mooie ronding en levendigheid, met tonen van citroen, abrikoos, mango en grapefruit. De afdronk blijft sappig, elegant en prettig lang hangen.
- Serveertemperatuur: 10–12 °C past hier het best, omdat dat bereik de frisse spanning bewaart en tegelijk ruimte laat aan de ronde textuur en aromatische breedte.
- Gerechten: Als aperitief, bij een salade met zeevruchten en citrus, kip met rivierkreeftjes, zwezerik in witte saus of verse geitenkaas komt deze wijn bijzonder mooi tot zijn recht.

Maison Brotte werd officieel opgericht in 1931 in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, al gaat het familieverhaal in de wijnbouw terug tot 1880. Vandaag werken 3 generaties samen binnen het huis, wat mooi laat zien hoe sterk traditie en opgebouwde Rhône-kennis hier nog altijd doorlopen. Juist die lange band met de streek geeft een wijn als Esprit Blanc zijn overtuigende regionale signatuur.

Good for night sessions

Picked this up for evening fetch sessions and it’s been a win. It charges up fast, couple minutes under a lamp or in sunlight and it’s good to go, and the glow is genuinely bright, not the sad dim purple some of these put out. Makes it way easier to find in the yard at dusk, and the dog can actually track it.
It’s a little on the softer side compared to a regular tennis ball, but durable enough to hold up to my big dog, who is not gentle with toys. Still kicking after plenty of chomping and slobber. Fits a standard Chuckit! launcher perfectly, which is the whole point.
Pros:
• Glows brightly and clearly in the dark
• Charges fast from any light source
• Holds up well even with a big, enthusiastic chewer
• Fits standard ball-throwing sticks
• Great for evening or early-morning fetch
Cons:
• A bit softer than a regular tennis ball — a determined power-chewer could probably destroy it eventually
• Glow fades after a while, so you’ll need to recharge it during long sessions
• Only glows if it’s been charged, which is obvious but easy to forget
Tips:
• Charge it under a bright light or in the sun for a few minutes before heading out
• A flashlight works in a pinch if you forgot to charge it
• Keep it out of permanent fetch duty — rotate with a regular ball so it lasts longer
• Not a chew toy, even though it’s tempting to leave it with the dog
Five stars. If you’ve got a dog and a yard, this makes evening fetch actually doable.

Best dog ball in the world!

My dog is singularly obsessed with playing ball. He would drop a steak to chase a ball. (He'd return to the steak, but not without the retrieved ball. He's not an idiot.) He makes dangerous leaps, crashes into trees, and runs fast enough to catch thrown balls before they even hit the ground. Since he doesn't care about his own wellbeing, it's my job to protect him as much as I can. And a lot of balls are hard enough to cause him pain or dental damage when he mistimes a catch. Enter the ChuckIt Glow Ball!
The minute Cowboy got his first Glow Ball, he no longer had any interest in the dozens of tennis balls scattered around the house and yard. If I took the Glow Ball away and instead threw a tennis ball, Cowboy would run to retrieve the ball, then return without it and begin looking all over the house for the Glow Ball. The Glow Ball is tough enough to survive Cowboy's big, sharp chompers, yet it's soft enough to do no harm when it hits him in the face. The glow feature is a huge bonus, too. Cowboy gets distracted by chipmunks and squirrels when we're playing, so he sometimes can't remember where he dropped the ball to pursue the interloper. If the ball was exposed to enough light before it was misplaced, it will be easy to find once the sun goes down. (Otherwise, Cowboy always finds it eventually.) When I'm feeling nocturnal, I'll put the ball under a light for a few minutes to activate the electrons, then treat my boy to a middle-of-the-night game of fetch.
I was so happy to see these on sale, I bought a lifetime supply for my pantry. The size guide seems accurate. ChuckIt recommended the large size for a dog of Cowboy's weight and that size is perfect. Highly recommended product.

Love this set!!!

I was trying to figure out which of the many different balls this company offers, and I was getting frustrated but then i was SOOOO happy to see they had multiple sets that had multiple of the different balls they offer!! I bought this set and the other set they offer, but this one was my favorite and I think my dogs too! The orange ball works great and bounces just high enough that it doesn’t clear our patio wall, but enough for him to go and jump up to retrieve. But the glow in the dark ball is his favorite! Both me and my pomsky were blown away how we brought the glow in the dark ball outside just as the sun was going down, and when we brought it back inside it was BRIGHT AND GLOWY!!! Even with the sun going down and not much light left!! He loves to play with it in the house after it’s all glowy from the sun. Sometimes we even glow it up under a light inside the house if it’s dark outside, and he will play with it outside in the dark haha he loves it!!! And I think it’s pretty cool too!! All of the balls this company overs are VERY durable! We realized early on that we cannot give our dog regular tennis balls cuz his favorite thing to do is tear the outside fabric off!! So we were trying to figure out what company has the best balls for dogs so they can’t sit there and try to pry them apart, and we found this company!! We have already bought from them about 3 times and all of their balls are durable and bounce how they say they will bounce!! They have the super bouncers and the glow in the dark one and the one with angles that will bounce in different directions and the ones you can throw REALLYY far! Overall, all the balls from this company are very durable, bounce really good, and keep my dog occupied without allowing him to sit there and tear it apart!!! Which i love cuz I do not like when he stops playing with us to sit there and try to take off the fabric, cuz then he could swallow it! So always buy the balls from this company!!! They are the best and most durable!!!! Also plenty soft for your dogs mouth so they can chew on it a bit and it won’t hurt their teeth/gums!
