Akebia quinata bloeit in april-mei met prachtige, geurige bloemen in een warme purperbruine kleur. Wil je ook vruchtvorming? Zet er twee bij elkaar. De beste tijd om Akebia quinata te planten is in het vroege voorjaar of in de herfst, wanneer de grond nog warm is en de plant zich goed kan vestigen voordat de hitte of kou zijn intrede doet. Kies een plek in de halfschaduw tot volle zon. Schijnaugurk gedijt het best in goed doorlatende grond. Deze neemt water snel op als het flink heeft geregend. De plant hecht zichzelf niet dus zorg voor een stevige ondersteuning waar hij tegenop kan klimmen, zoals een pergola, hek of muur met klimrek. Help jonge scheuten omhoog te klimmen door middel van binddraad.

Verzorging van Akebia quinata

Akebia quinata is heel makkelijk te verzorgen. Geef de plant tijdens droge periodes regelmatig water om de grond vochtig te houden. Een jaarlijkse bemesting met een organische meststof in het voorjaar bevordert de groei en bloei. Snoeien is niet echt nodig, maar als je de plant op een gewenste hoogte en breedte wilt houden, doe dit dan direct na de bloei. Verwijder oude en beschadigde takken om nieuwe groei te stimuleren en de plant gezond te houden.

Mooie combinaties met Akebia quinata

Akebia quinata combineert prachtig met andere klimplanten zoals clematis en Toscaanse jasmijn. De contrasterende bloemen en bladvormen van de clematis voegen extra kleur toe aan je tuin, terwijl de paarse bloemtrossen van een Blauwe regen een romantische look geven. Ook mooi is een combinatie met groene bodembedekkers zoals Pachysandra en maagdenpalm, die een groene basis vormen onder de klimplant.

Disclaimer: vine review of an item I requested free* These taste great, just like fruit snacks. I've gotten a lot of gummies from this brand and haven't found a bad one yet. Pineapple isn't even a flavor I usually like, but these taste good. Somehow they're always sweet with no weird aftertaste without having added sugar. Not too sticky, it doesn't leave residue on your fingers, but they do sometimes stick together. Mainly I got these to have some fruit snacks to eat, but the probiotics are a nice bonus and now I can pretend I'm being healthy when I eat my candy.

This is a better quality matcha than what is used at Starbucks!

This product is better than the matcha powder mix used at Starbucks! Starbucks uses a 51% sugar mix with questionably sourced matcha/sencha making up the other 49%. It has no tea flavor as it's basically just sweetened milk. If you've come to matcha through the Starbucks lens, this is NOT that product. It's what you should be drinking instead! When I've tried to get matcha powder locally at the grocery store, I've not been able to find one that is the same quality as this in such a value size quantity. For size reference, I'm pretty sure this size bag could last one person 3mos even if they were drinking a matcha latte everyday. This matcha here packs a bolder flavor, a better boost of energy, and more mental clarity without the crash that you'd have from coffee. It is unsweetened, which gives you the freedom to make the final product (latte, smoothie, whatever) as sweet or unsweet as you like. The powder is ULTRA fine, and is about the consistency of powdered sugar. It dissolves wonderfully in a few ounces of the liquid of your choice (I prefer oatmilk), and it suspends very nicely and does not sink to the bottom when at rest for a few moments. All around highly recommend. Unless you're Japanese and have had that real good stuff and would know the difference, this is probably good enough for most people.
