Seleniet of satijnspaat is een vorm van gips. Het lost op in water, wees daar dus voorzichtig mee. Seleniet heeft een lage hardheid en kan daardoor makkelijk verwerkt worden in allerlei prachtige vormen. De heldere vorm van seleniet heet Maria glas. Woestijnroos is ook een selenietsoort, ontstaan in de woestijn. Het woord seleniet komt van de Griekse godin van de maan; Selene. In seleniet zie je dan ook vaak een maanachtige gloed.

Spirituele werking:

Seleniet is de steen om mee te mediteren. Het helpt je om contact te maken met gidsen en engelen. Als je met hogere energieën hebt gewerkt, dan helpt seleniet je ook weer om te aarden. Seleniet heeft ook reinigende eigenschappen. Je kan deze steen dus ook gebruiken om andere stenen te reinigen.
