Voor veel mensen tegenwoordig verliest werk aan betekenis. De onvrede die wordt gevoeld beperkt zich niet tot bepaalde beroepen, achtergronden of overtuigingen, maar dringt op subtiele wijze door in elk aspect van het werk. Dat is jammer want werk is een heel effectief middel om te leren hoe we diepe voldoening kunnen vinden in het leven. Werk kan een bron zijn van groei, een kans om meer over onszelf te leren en positieve en gezonde relaties te ontwikkelen. Als wij werk op deze manier beschouwen, ontdekken we dat er feitelijk geen verschil is tussen energie en zorg wijden aan ons werk en energie wijden aan het vergroten van ons gewaarzijn en onze waardering voor het leven.

We hebben een nieuwe filosofie nodig ten aanzien van werken, die gebaseerd is op een groter menselijk inzicht, op respect voor onszelf en anderen, en op een bewustzijn van de kwaliteiten en vaardigheden die vrede scheppen in de wereld: communicatie, samenwerking en verantwoordelijkheid
