Productinformatie

Laurier Rotundifolia (Prunus laurocerasus 'Rotundifolia') is de meest voorkomende lauriersoort. Deze wordt ook wel gezien als de 'gewone' laurier. De laurier Rotundifolia staat bekend om zijn compacte vorm. Ze zorgen echt voor een volledig dichte haag, de bladeren vallen ook niet af. De laurier is wintergroen dus je kunt heel de winter genieten van een mooie groene haag. De laurier kent zijn bloeiperiode rond mei, dan komen er witte bloemen aan die erg geliefd zijn bij de vlinders. De pluimen van de bloemen maken rond augustus plaats voor zwarte rode besjes waar vogels op af komen. De bloemen en besjes komen niet tevoorschijn als je de haagplant regelmatig snoeit. Verder kan de laurier maar liefst tot 5 meter groot worden. Het is een snelgroeiende soort, de laurier groeit namelijk 40 tot 60 cm per jaar.

 

 

Snoeien

De laurier Rotundifolia laten zich heel makkelijk snoeien. Aan de haag zitten geen doornen of scherpe bladeren en geen dikke stammen die je met veel gezweet moet doorzagen. Om de Rotundifolia mooi te houden is het verstandig de haag twee keer per jaar te snoeien, in de lente en in de herfst. Bij het snoeien vertakt de haagplant en worden er nieuwe scheuten gevormd met als gevolg dat de plant sterker en voller wordt. 

 

 

Standplaats & aanplanten

De laurier Rotundifolia doet het uitstekend in de schaduw, halfschaduw en volle zon en vochtige, normale of droge grond. Vermijd alleen hele natte of kalkrijke bodems. Doordat de planten snel groeien heb je na het planten al snel een sterke, volle en zichtbare haag. De haag is beperkt vorstbestendig.

Average quality lightweight throw, not sold on the color

This blanket is fairly soft and lightweight, and better suited for the summer months. I don't think the texture and "Southern Blues" color looks as nice in person as in the photos; less cozy and more like a spare blanket you might find in a hotel closet. Interestingly the care tag says that the outer faces are cotton, but the blanket feels polyester and the content tag indicates the same. The stitching and durability feel ok, and it will probably hold up for the occasional machine washing and low heat drying. Overall it's a fine warm season throw but not particularly notable. I would probably recommend one of the darker colors.

So easy to wash!

Two things I love about this coverlet: 1. It's so much easier to wash than a duvet! Or even a duvet cover or a regular blanket, for that matter. The queen-size coverlet fit easily in my washer, and I could have put in another if I had had one. It stayed loose and balanced in the machine - the washer didn't have to readjust its balance during the spin cycles. In the dryer, it didn't wad up into a ball that had to be shaken out every few minutes. It came out feeling softer and looking good, with no wrinkles. 2. It's thinner than a duvet and suitable for warm weather, yet those three stitched layers give it substance and weight that I find more comfortable than sleeping under a pile of fluff or a bed sheet. The soft pastel green color with cream lining (not really reversible due to the hem) is fresh and reminiscent of the 1950s coverlets that my grandmother made. Crocheting was one of her passions, and she'd create huge lacy doilies that lay across the foot of the coverlet. Very pretty look.

Great summer blanket.

When I first received this blanket I washed it by itself in cold water with detergent. I did not use a fabric softener or a fabric sheet. I air dried it completely and then put it in my dryer on air fluff for 10 minutes. No shedding and it came out just like I received it. I was concerned about shedding with some of the reviews but I had no issues with that whatsoever. It's warm yet lightweight. I didn't want anything that would make me overly hot because I'm always hot anyway. It takes that cool edge off when you still want your overhead fan on. My daughter said she likes it better than the one she has. I can't remember the brand. I feel it has a good quality. Just make note to wash it as instructed and it'll hold up well and look just as nice as the way you bought it. I'm not sure how the other reviewers that didn't leave 5 stars washed there's, but it couldn't have been the correct way.
