Saint Clair Family Estate Omaka Reserve Chardonnay 2023Saint Clair is vernoemd naar James Sinclair, die verantwoordelijk was voor de eerste nederzettingen in Blenheim, Nieuw Zeeland, de thuishaven van het wijnhuis op het Zuidereiland. Opgericht in 1978 behoort het familiebedrijf tot de pioniers op het gebied van wijnbouw in Marlborough. Vandaar dat de link met pionier James Sinclair al snel werd gelegd. Hele trossen worden zachtjes geperst om structuur uit de steeltjes te krijgen. Het sap wordt vergist in vaten van Amerikaans eikenhout, waarvan 42% van de vaten nieuw zijn. Daarna ondergaat de wijn een malolactische gisting om de scherpe zuren zachter te maken. Vervolgens rijpt de wijn nog 10 maanden, waarbij de gistcellen regelmatig worden geroerd (batonnage), wat de wijn romiger maakt.
