Water en voer zijn belangrijk voor een goede start

De start van eendagskuikens heeft een grote invloed op hun gezondheid, groei en verdere ontwikkeling tijdens de productie. De eerste dagen functioneert hun immuniteitssysteem nog niet optimaal, zijn de kuikens afhankelijk van de omgevingswarmte om hun eigen lichaamstemperatuur op peil te houden en zijn het darmslijmvlies en de darmflora nog in opbouw.


Water is de eerste levensbehoefte voor eendagskuikens bij aankomst in de stal. Daarom geldt: hoe eerder water (en voer) wordt gevonden, des te makkelijker is de start van de kuikens.

Kuikenpapier leidt kuikens naar voer en water

Het papier met hoge ritselende eigenschappen wordt onder elke drinklijn gelegd. Zodra eendagskuikens over het papier lopen, geeft het een ritselend geluid, wat de andere kuikens aantrekt. Hierdoor worden alle eendagskuikens naar het water geleid en beginnen ze binnen 4 uur na aankomst met drinken. Door voer op het papier te leggen, wordt niet alleen het water gevonden, maar hebben de vleeskuikens ook gemakkelijk toegang tot het voer.

Het gebruik van kuikenpapier is een eenvoudige methode om de eendagskuikens te stimuleren zo spoedig mogelijk te starten met eten en drinken. Het idee is simpel: het papier wordt onder de drinklijnen uitgerold en voedsel wordt hierop gestrooid. Zodra de eerste kuikens op het papier lopen zal het knisperende geluid de andere eendagskuikens naar het papier toe leiden en deze zullen het water en voedsel vlot vinden.

Door het hoog absorberende vermogen wordt de mest snel geabsorbeerd. Het papier is volledig biologisch afbreekbaar en hoeft dus ook niet uit de stallen te worden verwijderd. De snelheid waarmee het papier afbreekt is afhankelijk van het type kuikenpapier.
