The horse's mouth tends to be slightly narrower where the weymouth bit is placed. Therefore it is recommend choosing a weymouth bit that is 1⁄2 to 1 cm smaller than the snaffle bit. It is important that the sides of the bit fit snugly against the corners of the mouth. If there is too much room between the corners of the mouth and the sides, the bit may block or tilt.
