Wijn en gerecht : Past perfect bij alle gegrild rood vlees, geroosterd of in saus, en licht wild: kwartels, fazanten, patrijzen.

De wijn : Mooie robijnrode kleur die op frambozenkleur trekt.
Een strelende neus van goede intensiteit, met houtachtige tonen, rijp fruit met licht dierlijke accenten.
In de mond hebben we een wijn die vol is door de mooie rijpheid van zijn vruchtvlees, op een structuur van fijne fluweelzachte tannines.

Het domein Alain Gras en zoon

Alain Gras werkt sinds 1979 met passie en met veel respect voor het terroir. 
Een uitzonderlijk terroir vanwege de ligging op de top van een heuvel, die profiteert van een klei-kalksteenbodem die de wortels van de wijnstokken dwingt om in de rots te duiken om zich te voeden.
Het is de typiciteit van dit terroir dat onze druiven mineraliteit, elegantie en frisheid geeft.
Het landgoed heeft nu 12 hectare, voornamelijk gelegen in Saint-Romain , voor wit en rood, in Meursault voor wit en Auxey Duresses voor wit en rood.

De Bourgondische traditie vereist dat de wijnbouwers thuis komen voor proeverijen in de kelder. In Saint Romain nam Alain GRAS veertig jaar deel aan dit ritueel voordat hij een specifieke, moderne en a-typische plek creëerde. Samen met zijn zoon Arthur verwelkomt hij wijnliefhebbers die op zaterdag worden uitgenodigd om een ​​film te bekijken over het leven op het wijngoed, voordat hij vijf van zijn wijnen laat ontdekken.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
