Dédicace 2022 is een geconcentreerde en expressieve Lirac Rouge met een warm, zuidelijk profiel en opvallend veel balans. In de neus aroma’s van zwarte kers, braam en pruim, aangevuld met garrigue, zoethout, laurier en een toets zwarte peper. In de mond is de wijn vol en rond, met rijp fruit, stevige maar zachte tannines en voldoende frisheid om het rijke geheel te dragen. De afdronk is lang en kruidig, met donker fruit en mediterrane kruiden die blijven nazinderen.

Vinificatie.
De druiven worden met de hand geoogst en zorgvuldig geselecteerd. Na temperatuurgecontroleerde vergisting volgt een maceratie die gericht is op diepe kleur en structuur zonder hardheid. De opvoeding gebeurt typisch ongeveer 12 tot 14 maanden in een combinatie van grote houten vaten en gebruikte eikenhouten vaten, gevolgd door enkele maanden flesrijping om de tannines te polijsten en de kruidigheid te integreren.

Het domein.
Domaine Coudoulis is een kleinschalige producent in Lirac die focust op klassieke Rhône-blends met een moderne precisie. Er wordt sterk ingezet op milieubewuste wijngaardzorg, met veel handwerk, lage opbrengsten en aandacht voor biodiversiteit en bodemgezondheid. In de kelder blijft de aanpak bewust weinig interventioneel, zodat fruit, kruidigheid en terroir centraal blijven staan.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

I cried my eyes out when he walked into the story. I was truly terrified he was going to be a bad guy to the end. However you truly did him such a justice by having him realize his faults & having him redeem himself in the most wonderful way. I’m so sad that he didn’t get to hear how much his brother loved him & forgave him before dying. But again you wrote that ending so beautifully & I just can’t express how much I loved this story & how you took a different route than most authors I have read have. You are a remarkable author Cinder Blaze & I thank you generously for creating such a masterpiece.
