Anthony Pirog, op gitaar, wordt algemeen beschouwd als een van de meest veelzijdige en briljante muzikanten ter wereld. James Brandon Lewis, op saxofoon, werd door Downbeat Magazine verkozen tot Artiest van het Jaar & Tenorsaxofonist van 2025 en is een kolossale aanwezigheid in de jazzwereld. Brendan Canty en Joe Lally zijn vooral bekend als de ritmesectie van de invloedrijke band Fugazi. Ze spelen inmiddels bijna 40 jaar samen. Samen vormen The Messthetics en James Brandon Lewis een generatieoverschrijdende ontmoeting van zielsverwanten.
