Domaine de Villeneuve ligt in het noordelijkste gedeelte van de Chateauneuf du Pape. Het terroir van Les Vieilles Vignes van is zeer divers gezien de gaarden precies op vrij specifieke oude, geologische grenzen liggen. De verschillende micro-plots bestaan uit mensgels van rode klei, slib, Rhône-kiezelstelen, zand van maritieme afkomst van meer dan miljoenen jaren geleden, licht gele klei, sedimentaire afzettingen rijk aan mineralen en daar houdt het nog niet eens op. Ook de leeftijd van de stokken verschilt van 40 jaar tot meer dan 100 jaar oud.
Villeneuve is in 1993 door Stanilas Wallut overgenomen van de adelijke Roy de Blicquy familie. Sindsdien streeft hij ernaar, op volledig biodynamische wijze, de áller beste wijnen van de appellatie Châteauneuf-du-pape te maken. Stapje bij stapje gaan ook zij steeds meer de kant van de vin nature op. Spontane vergisting, minimaal toegevoegde sulfieten en zo min mogelijk interventie in de wijnkelder.

- Druivensoort: 70% grenache, 16% mourvèdre, 8% syrah, 4% cinsault, 2% clairette
- In de wijngaard: Domaine de Villeneuve ligt in het noordelijkste gedeelte van de Chateauneuf du Pape. Zeer divers terroir bestaande uit verschillende micro-plots. Oude stokken variërend van 40 jaar tot meer dan 100 jaar oud. De oogst gaat volledig met de hand.
- In de kelder: Spontane vergisting. Druiven soorten worden apart van elkaar geperst met een verticale pers waarna wat zorgt voor een zachte behandeling van de druiven en een langzame persing wat zorgt het mooiste sap. Vervolgens wordt het druivensap bij elkaar gemengd wordt. Rijping sur-lie tussen de 18 tot 24 maanden in betonnen vaten van 51 hl. Zo blijft de frisheid en het donkere fruit van de wijn behouden.

Sweet Fairytale treat
Format: Kindle
This book was a sweet read. If you’re looking for something lite reading, this is it. I will say that 75% through you really got to the heavy side of the book but it was balanced. I did love Ash’s mom’s character. I would recommend reading if you want something happy and short.

For Royalty Sake
Format: Paperback
Clare Lydon does it again. The inclusion of the royal family dynamics combined with the use of infamous landmarks like Balmoral Castle and Buckingham Palace were exquisite. The storyline of the footballer, Ashleigh so authentic to England and princess, Victoria, so believable. I loved the characters portrayed whether Ash’s friends or the Queen Mother. They were just perfection. I loved this story. Great job.

Egads what a game!

Clare Lyndon has just given us a treat in the form of a coming out, royals, and a footie World Cup! I am delighted to say that this book began with me in full laughter and then kept me giggling for quite a few chapters. Then the love bloomed, crashed but did not go out! This was a heart warming tale well written and loads of fun to read.

Rollercoaster of a ride

I have to admit, sports romance is one of my two favorite tropes; the other being celebrity romance. I don't think Clare Lydon could write a bad book if she tried. The Princess Match is a rollercoaster of a ride. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
