Bodegas Matorromera ligt in het hart van de streek tegen de noordelijke heuvels van de Valle del Duero met prachtig zicht op de rivier. 

In 1988 pakte wijnmaker en eigenaar Carlos Moro het spreekwoordelijke stokje op. Hij voelt zich zeer nauw verbonden met de streek en diens prachtige natuur en laat deze filosofie ook terugzien in zijn wijnen. Carlos werkt volledig biologisch en duurzaam. In 2012 ontving hij zelfs de European Environment Award. 

Al het fruit op Matarromera wordt met de hand geoogst. De bodem bestaat uit kleiachtig zand met leisteen en kalk en vereist door het jaar heen veel handelingen voor succesvolle wijnbouw. Het domein beslaat ruim 160 hectare verdeeld over het hart van de Ribeira del Duero en is voornamelijk beplant met Tempranillo. Een klein percentage van de aanplant bestaat uit Cabernet Sauvignon en Merlot. Hiermee kan Carlos nuances aanbrengen in zijn complexe wijnen.
