Het wijngebied de Douro strekt zich uit langs de oevers van de Douro rivier die vanuit midden Spanje het land binnenstroomt. De Douro staat bekend om de productie van Port, maar tegenwoordig maken nagenoeg alle producenten ook zeer verdienstelijke tafelwijnen. Voor de rode wijnen gebruikt men veelal dezelfde druivenrassen als voor de Port. Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca en Tinto Roriz als bekendste voorbeelden. Voor witte wijnen plant men in de koelere wijngaarden o.a. Moscatel, Gouveio en Viosinho aan. De Douro staat tevens bekend om de adembenemende omgeving. De wijngaarden liggen in terrasvorm aangeplant aan de oever van de rivier. De streek is mede om deze prachtige setting toegevoegd aan het Unesco werelderfgoed. 

Mooie, klassieke blend uit de noord Portugese Douro vallei. Deze Vilarissa Grande Reserva wordt gemaakt van Touriga Franca en Touriga Nacional. De wijn ondergaat een behoorlijke houtopvoeding. Het resultaat is een stoer glas met rijp fruit en vanille!
