De naam Palma Cortada moet gezien worden in het licht van de classificatie van druiven en wijnen in het Jerez van de 19de eeuw: Palma, Cortado of Raya. Palma Cortada behoort in eerste instantie tot de palma's: de groenste druiven met het laagste alcoholpotentieel en het hoogste potentieel voor een opvoeding onder flor. 2017 was een jaar met een gemiddelde regenval maar ook met constant hoge temperaturen en dus zeer geconcentreerde druiven. De flor verdwijnt vanzelf na enkele jaren door de eigen concentratie en de wijn krijgt een licht oxidatief karakter: Palma Cortada. 

Aroma's van citrus, amandel, hooi, kamille. Heel sappig en ziltig in de mond, licht kruidig met smaken van gebakken wit fruit.
