Each letter of the alphabet has its own individual embroidery technique ready to practice, designed by Stitch School. The alphabet is printed onto a linen sampler and accompanied with an instruction pamphlet illustrating each stitch. 3 hour class held at Frequency Cafe next door to Loop.

This Workshop taught by Melanie Bowles will have you working on a Stitch-School linen sampler to explore, learn and practice the A-Z of embroidery stitches.  Each letter of the alphabet has its own individual embroidery technique ready to practice, designed by Stitch-School. The alphabet is printed onto a linen sampler and accompanied with an instruction pamphlet illustrating each stitch.

3 hour class held at Frequency Cafe next door to Loop. Maximum of 10 students.

Please arrive at Loop a few minutes early, and we’ll walk you over to Frequency, where you can settle in and enjoy a complimentary coffee before we begin.

Saturday the 21st of November 2026 (price of workshop includes the sampler kit)

Morning Class : 10:30 - 1:30 pm

Participants will receive the A-Z Embroidery sampler containing a 48cm x 76cm printed linen sampler and instruction sheet of stitches.

• Learn and practice six embroidery stitches and be introduced to the complete alphabet of stitches 
• Discover the benefits of slow stitching as a form of de-stressing as an antidote to modern life.
• Explore the wealth of embroidery stitches and celebrate the art of needlework

About Melanie:

Melanie Bowles is a Senior Lecturer at Chelsea College of Art on the BA Honours Textile degree. She is a practising textile designer and educationalist with the focus on creating educational material through step by step graphics to make textile design accessible and inclusive for all.

 Cancellation policy A refund of payment for a class will be given for cancellations only if the spot can be filled by another student, minus a 10% admin fee. Please be considerate. We reserve the right to cancel a class in unusual circumstances. We try to avoid this wherever possible, but sometimes it cannot be avoided. In this situation, of course, a full refund will be given. We're sorry, but Loop cannot be financially responsible for extreme weather conditions or any other situations that are out of its' control. If we need to cancel the class due to any unforeseen circumstances, we will of course offer you a full refund or shop credit (whatever your preference is).
