Details

Described by scholars as a symphony, a sinfonia concertante, and even a violin concerto, the Sinfonia in C with the obbligato violin was most likely written in Stockholm about 1778-1779, based upon handwriting and watermark evidence. It represents one of Kraus's first compositions after settling in Sweden. The purpose for which it was written remains unknown, and indeed it is not entirely certain if the work was ever performed during the composer's lifetime. The sole surviving source is the autograph preserved in the Universitetsbibliotek at Uppsala University. This was acquired by Kraus biographer Fredrik Samuel Silverstolpe sometime after 1825 from the Stockholm antiquarian book market. On the final page is a note penned by Silverstolpe giving the themes and fate of the Symphony in D major (VB 143), which was published during the composer's lifetime in Paris and London with an attribution to Joseph Haydn. It is clear from the context of the work, Kraus's first with a slow introduction, that it does not conform well to the standard notion of a true symphony. The solo violin has extensive passages that go beyond the usual obbligato parts found in other contemporaneous symphonies, yet the work does not have the form or structure of a concerto. In addition, there are passages for solo flute and violoncello, as well as a couple of brief appearances for the violas, that add a further dimension to the symphony. It may well be that this work might be either a reworking or contain material from a now lost Sinfonia concertante for obbligato flute, violin, viola, violoncello and orchestra that was written in 1777 in Gttingen. Kraus's autograph score presents few problems to the editor beyond the usual task of ironing out inconsistencies. Thus, the style and notation of articulation and dynamic markings have been standardized throughout and, where missing from the source, markings have been reconstructed from parallel passages. These are indicated by the use of dotted slurs or brackets where appropriate. Obvious wrong notes have been corrected without comment; editorial emendations with no authority from the source are placed within brackets. Bertil van Boer Allan Badley

Overall good quality
Color: Ivory, Size: 2' x 3' (Pelt), Color: Ivory, Size: 2' x 3' (Pelt)
I was pleasantly surprised by the thickness of this rug. No bad smell coming off it. I like the leather backing on it. Wasn't as soft/fluffy straight out the bag but a quick brush fixed that issue for me. So far even with the brushing there is minimal shedding. Bought as a gift for my husband but my son enjoys it.

Great product: thick and cozy
Size: Single Pelt/2 ft x 3 ft, Color: Natural (Ivory Whiite)
This is a lovely, thick sheepskin. I’m using it to drape over a chair. It’s very soft. The color is a natural white. Arrived quickly. The price was great for such a wonderful sheepskin.

Love it!
Size: 2' x 6' (Double Pelt), Color: Linen, Size: 2' x 6' (Double Pelt), Color: Linen
Exceeded all expectations. Bigger than I imagined it would be, super soft and thick, beautiful color (Linen), and no funky smell at all. It seems very durable. After running my hands all over it, no shedding occurred. I have yet to sit on it myself, though, as my cat claimed it right away - didn't even wait for me to remove the tag! He's been there for hours and I'm thinking I've lost my snuggle buddy, so I bought two more in the smaller size so he can have his own on the bed with me at night. I am so amazed by the quality, feel, and color. I can't believe I almost let other reviews deter me from this purchase. 100% thrilled with this beautiful pelt. Absolutely recommend! UPDATE: I received the other 2 purchased. Just as soft, just as thick, consistent color (Linen), no shedding, no smell. They have been in use for several days now without any issues. Love them all - and my snuggle buddy is back! 🥰

It’s wonderful!!
Size: 2' x 3' (Single Pelt), Color: Brown, Size: 2' x 3' (Single Pelt), Color: Brown
The product is wonderful! You know it is real, coz the smell doesn’t go away. I use it to meditate and cannot how nicely it created the perfect comforting barrier to help elevate my experience. I however want to find alternatives coz I stopped using animal products after turning a vegetarian. The size (it is bigger in person than in the pic) and color(brown) are perfect for what I do and doesn’t need much/any maintenance! The white however needs a lot of attention and care.I’m sure it would last a decade and the weight is just right too!
