Some suppliers use names like “AK Pro” for similar 2-in-1 tufting guns. At Tuftingshop we call this model AK DUO, because its main advantage is the ability to work in both cut pile and loop pile. It is a versatile starter-friendly machine, not our most advanced professional model. To complete your rug, you will also need yarn and finishing materials such as latex glue, backing fabric and trimming tools. These are sold separately. What is the difference between the AK-I and the AK DUO? The AK-I is a dedicated cut-pile tufting gun. The AK DUO can be used for both cut pile and loop pile, so you can create different textures with one machine. Is the AK DUO the same as the AK Pro? Some shops use the name AK Pro for a similar 2-in-1 tufting gun. We use AK DUO to describe the machine more clearly: it is a dual-function cut and loop pile tufting gun. Is the AK DUO easy for beginners? Yes. The adjustable speed makes it easier to learn the rhythm of tufting, and the option to use both cut and loop pile gives you room to experiment as your skills grow. Which frame size should I pick?
