Madrona Bowl Blank Md47 4" x 8" x 14" 11.4 lbs. This is a beautiful and complex half-log bowl blank of Pacific Madrone wood taken from a crotch, which is the node at which branches originate. This one is exceedingly complex and is suited for an experienced turner. There are at least 4 major branch intersections along the main trunk in this blank, with many additional incipient branch buds present. In addition to the grain complexity, the blank is spalted and has some drying cracks. It's a striking blank that will make for some beautiful finished turnings. The bark is absent from this piece. You have the option of turning either a conventional bowl or a "barkless" natural-edge bowl. It is extra-long, so you may get several bowls or other turnings out of this one piece of wood. This is a GREEN to partially air-dried bowl blank, meaning that it still retains a lot of its original moisture from when it was a living tree. It dried naturally without seal to about 25% MC, hence the cracks. Once we discovered it and cut it to dimension, we sealed it with Anchor Seal to continue the process of slowly drying. It was measured at 25% moisture content in January 2023. If you need a current moisture content, please message us so that we can check its status for you. This blank does have quite a few cracks. While we often treat the cracks for you, we've opted not to for this blank since it is still pretty green. You'll want to fill these with CA glue prior to turning. The cracks will continue to develop as the block dries, so there may be more than shown in the photos. Because of the complexity of grain swirl in this blank and the open cracks, we recommend this for an EXPERIENCED turner. About the Tree This Madrona tree was blown down during a snowstorm that hit San Juan Island in December 2022. It lived on the west side of the island, near Lime Kiln State Park, a famous orca watching location. |

Stopped working after 3 months
It stopped working after 3 months.
The motor still runs the gear still turns. But it does not engage the can to cut.
I bought it for a post operative situation and I am glad that it worked when for the length of time it did but it's disappointing that I now have to throw this item away.

Meh.
Worked great the first couple of times it was used. But then it stopped cutting into the cans and does not open them. It causes the metal to fray off in small pieces which resulted in getting a piece of metal stuck in my finger for weeks so I don't recommend. It's also very loud.

Do Not Buy This Product.
this review is coming at 1 April 2026. This can opener was purchased in October 2025. My initial review was that it worked well and did the job. It was meant to do however, after a few uses, I noticed that the can opener continue to move around and around the can even after the can lid had been cut open. in January 2026 it began to make more and more rotations around the can and the lid was not cut loose. After a few more uses. It just rotated and did nothing else. I sent an email to the company. I contacted Amazon about it. I’ve done everything that I can possibly see to do but I get no positive results. Consequently, I have a six month old can opener. It does not work.
worked well for the first 10 or 20 uses; then the cutting edge just wore out (3-4mos.), so now my money was wasted. No explanation no offer, too bad.

Don't waste money on this one
Ordered in January 2026. Worked good the first few times. Now it just rotates around and around the can but doesn't cut anything. I'm so disappointed because it failed shortly after my return window closed.
