A newspaper. It's a small bundle of recycled papers, but its also more. It’s an idea - one that we see less and less these days, splayed out on sticky cafe tables, weighed down by an espresso. The paper is about tuning into the pulse of your community. What does it say, when the paper is the first thing you pick up in the morning? Maybe, its says "I care about whats going on". Or maybe its just looking for something to be mildly annoyed by. Regardless, isn't it better to have an opinion, than be apathetic. In a town where nonchalance is the hight of social cache, who's left to yell in the street? Who's left to tell you to "go get a life?"

You would think such unkind words, hurled at a stranger or a brother would create a piazza of stress and resentment. But quite the opposite seems to be these case. Maybe part of the calm that Italy inspires comes from its people and their quiet fortitude in a mosaic of loud opinions. An abrasive comment on the street or curse from a 3rd story window to "stai zitto laggiu", becomes the soundscape of home.
