The “father of SNK fighting games” burst onto the scene with the first FATAL FURY in 1991 (the dawning of a new era, some would say)—a landmark title that follows brothers Terry and Andy Bogard, along with Japanese Muay Thai champion Joe Higashi, on their quest for revenge against nefarious South Town kingpin Geese Howard. FATAL FURY 2 followed a year later, introducing the series' first female fighter—Mai Shiranui—and focusing on two-player competition. Another year on saw FATAL FURY SPECIAL, an all-star brawl with combatants from the two previous titles, make waves in its own right.
Fatal Fury's legacy cannot be denied, having taken arcades by storm and pumping out a slew of new titles in the years since. The series has truly cemented its place in the annals of fighting game history.
