A handsome 19th century French Louis Philippe style four-drawer bleached commode, circa 1880s. Handcrafted of walnut and meticulously bookmatched burled walnut, this handsome commode is complimented by its original Saint Anne gray marble top with an ogee edge and canted corners that overhang the body of the chest to balance the proportion of the plinth base and sabot feet, emphasizing the geometric quality of the style created during the reign of King Louis Philippe (1830-1848). The secret locking doucine drawer sits over three full-length drawers with circular brass pulls and a center brass escutcheon that identifies the keyhole.
