Overview

The Lavish Lovers, commissioned by Louis XIV to put on display all that theatre could offer, is an important example of the Sun King’s use of art as an instrument of government. Part ballet, part comedy, with music by Jean-Baptiste Lully, it shows all the main trends of French court entertainments. The king was a true artistic collaborator; he specified the subject, the characters, and the setting. The roles of Neptune and Apollo were designed for him to perform as a dancer. In carrying out the assignment, however, Molière modified the elements to produce a show that the patron had not imagined. Long dismissed as a kind of forced labour, it is in fact a significant achievement, which makes us think about the political role of art and the use of different art forms within a single work. In it we see the playwright’s craft and ideas at an important stage of his career, and his ability to maintain his artistic integrity under an authoritarian régime.

He has previously published an edition of Beaumarchais’s Three Figaro Plays in the Carleton Renaissance Play series. His translations of French plays have been performed in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. He is now beginning to add Spanish and Italian plays to his repertoire.

I want every color!
To me they are perfect quality blankets. I've bought a bunch of brands here this year. (Blanket addict). But these are my absolute favorites. The green moss color is beautiful in person. It's not a mucky cooked spinach color. They're soft, thick, warm and so snuggly. I'm a hot sleeper and these don't make me wake up all night. The "bubbles" actually are bubbly, not flat like most of the bubble blankets claim to be. The back side is just as soft, a thick nice fur. I don't do reviews often but I love this blanket so much. The pic I uploaded is from pillows I bought to go with the blanket but you can at least see the blanket color. I bought white and oak too. Not to plug another brand but the pillow is Vctops fur pillow cover I bought on Amazon too that's in the pic.

Lovely throw
Color: Oak, Size: Throw(50"x60")
I am very pleased with this blanket throw. The Oak color is a beautiful neutral. It is extremely soft with a medium weight. It washes and dries with ease (I used the sheets/towels/bulky items setting on my washer in cold water and dried on delicate). Honestly, this is a great dupe for Lola blanket.

The best blanket!
Color: Oak, Size: Twin(60"x80")
This is the perfect blanket! I ordered the twin size for my teenage son and he loves it! I wanted something that was larger than a throw blanket. It is incredibly soft and thick. We’ve washed & dried it and it looks brand new! Highly, highly recommend!

This blanket is exactly what I was looking for. I purchased the twin size but use it as a throw on my couch and all my guest love it. It is warm and snuggly.
