The stinkhorn mushroom is one of the weirdest wonders of the fungal world, certainly the smelliest. Ever since it was described by a Dutch doctor in a sixteenth-century pamphlet, the stinkhorn has been reported to emit odors resembling damp earth, dung, rotting cheese, decaying flesh, and even semen. It also happens to look like a phallus, bursting out of a subterranean egg to poke above the ground, where it lures insects towards its slimy, fetid cap. In Stinkhorn, artist, musician, and writer Si n Parkinson asks- What can the pervasive stench of this mushroom and the droning noise of the flies compelled towards it reveal about how sounds and smells are combined in the imagination?
A heady mix of natural history, science writing, musicology, philosophy of the senses, and illness memoir, Parkinson uses examples of so-called bad smells to argue for a theory of Stink as a kind of "smelling sound." Alongside images and insights from the author's search for stinkhorn fungi in nature, the book expands upon the philosophy of listening to consider the role of the nose and the "nasal imaginary" in how we make sense of sound.

Somehow my puppers knew this was for him immediately...I hadn't even inflated it with the included ball pump yet! He sat patiently waiting and then just lost it when it was ready for play. He uses the tabs to grab it but also can grab the side of the ball and hasn't punctured it yet. He loves when we do foot work trying to get it. He posed just like the Pros for a picture afterward. Paws down Teddy's new favorite toy.

This ball used to be better made

This is my 3rd ball in the last several years. I purchased this one on 3/17/26. My dog and I play soccer every evening for 15 minutes, and I never leave her alone with the ball. The main handle has torn away from the ball, as you can see in the picture. I am disappointed and will hopefully find a better replacement.

So fun!! my dog loves this!!

Oh my gosh, finally a toy that he loves so much that doesn’t squeak!!! I have a big German Shepherd/Doberman and he loves this toy. He grabs one of those loops and he shakes it back-and-forth and I Chase him around the house. I throw it for him. It’s just so fun. When I have it and I wanna try to roll it past him really fast. He just puts his paw out like he’s a professional soccer player! I will definitely buy this again when all the little loops get chewed off but so far he’s only been able to chew off the main loop.

Good for a dog who likes to chew

I bought this for our 7mo puppy. She loves to fetch the ball and chew on the tabs. The tabs are sturdy if you have a dog who loves to chew. Perfect size for our girl. It is a great for when she has pent up energy. It's below zero where we are so finding an indoor game is essential.
