John Fairburn was a Regency period English printer and publisher active between 1787-1850 in London. He was one of Fairburn's printers dynasty who produced prints, maps, chapbooks, pamphlets and other items, mostly via letterpress, but also engraved and hand-coloured. It is believed that in 1787 John Fairburn has produced the oldest printed Valentine's Day card.

The Battle of Trafalgar (21 October 1805) was a naval engagement fought by the British Royal Navy against the combined fleets of the French and Spanish navies during the War of the Third Coalition (August–December 1805) of the Napoleonic Wars (1803–1815). Twenty-seven British ships led by Admiral Lord Nelson aboard HMS Victory, defeated thirty-three French and Spanish ships of the line under French Admiral Villeneuve. The battle took place off the southwest coast of Spain, just west of Cape Trafalgar. The Franco-Spanish fleet lost twenty-two ships, and the British lost none. Prior to the battle, Vice Admiral of the Royal Navy, Horatio Nelson, has sent his famous signal "England expects that every man will do his duty" from his flagship HMS "Victory".
