The band's custom arrangements by reed man John Clark (thoroughly in the '20s style) breathe new life into classics like "Copenhagen," "Zonky," "Deep Henderson," "My Blackbirds Are Bluebirds Now," and many others. Bix Beiderbecke's "Davenport Blues" gets an especially stirring treatment as a feature for the mellow flugelhorn of Jeff Hughes. This disc is highly recommended to fans of McKinney's Cotton Pickers, Coon-Sanders, Jean Goldkette, and any of the other "hot" '20s bands.
