Boeing 727 JT8D Engine/Cockpit Gauge Sculpture

The legendary 727 jetliner, which took its first flight in 1963, was designed to serve smaller airports with shorter runways than those used by the earlier 707. Although many in the industry thought the proposed plane was a risky proposition, Boeing ultimately produced more than 1,800 of the popular trijets. This artifact is constructed from a segment of a titanium spacer ring from a 727 Pratt & Whitney JT8D engine. Our craftspeople cleaned and polished the ring, fitted it with a custom laser-cut stainless-steel back panel and base, and bolted three 727 cockpit gauges onto the back panel to create a one-of-a kind piece that brings an artistic sensibility to aviation history. In addition to the stainless-steel base, the piece includes a hanger hole on the back so that it can be hung on a wall or set on a desk or shelf. A Certificate of Authenticity and Custom Hangar keychain are included. Different pieces will feature different cockpit gauges and may vary from photograph. Made in USA. Measures 8"H x 2.5"D.
