Modern construction meets vintage vibe with this Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Custom. As part of a low quantity, limited edition collection for 2026, this Les Paul Custom features high quality craftsmanship and specs, wrapped in a Murphy Lab Heavy Aged Oxblood finish.

The Modern Custom Shop Les Paul Custom takes direct inspiration from its historic roots but adds a modern twist: weight relief. It's body is constructed with a weight relieved piece of solid mahogany and is capped with a plain maple top. The darker, mid-driven chunk from the mahogany pairs excellently with the maple to deliver a clear, full, and balanced sonic sound. Its body, neck, and headstock are wrapped in multi-ply binding, a reminder on why the Les Paul Custom is often referred to as the "Tuxedo Les Paul."

A set of humbucking pickups amplify its voice – a 498T in the bridge and a 490R in the neck position. Made from Alnico 2 and 5 magnets, these pickups are wax potted to reduce feedback and offer a slightly hotter output for extra punch. Tone can be explored quickly with the 3-way pickup selector switch, volume, and tone speed knob controls.

Attached to the body in Gibson's traditional glued in, set-neck design, is an expertly carved medium "C" shaped mahogany neck. The neck is topped with an ebony fingerboard, mother of pearl block inlay fret markers, and is crowned with 22 frets. Strings are loaded through the Stop Bar Tailpiece and are anchored on the Tune-O-Matic bridge, providing a solid point for intonation before being strung to pitch with Grover Kidney Bean tuning machines on the headstock. Its open-book headstock features the Les Paul Custom's signature split diamond inlay.

The guitar is finished in Oxblood and received the Heavy Aged treatment by the Murphy Lab. Engineered to look and feel like a well-loved, decades old instrument, the guitar proudly displays simulated finish checking, buckle rash, dings, and hardware patina. It's not just cosmetic, the guitar feels well broken-in, and plays effortlessly.
