The glove is given a narrow wrist to imitate the Muay Thai glove style as well as to allow for quick movements. The glove is made from Leather and is hand molded to give the right fit and padding at all times. The leather also gives the glove a longer life in comparison to a non-leather glove.
The narrow and short wrist in Muay Thai gloves, in comparison to the thick and long wrist in normal boxing gloves, is to allows for more evasiveness whilst punching. Normal Boxing Gloves, like the Mani Tuffx Boxing gloves, have a large and thick wrist to ensure the wrist is locked in place during the punch which allows for the shock to go to the arm rather than the wrist. Conversely, in Muay Thai gloves, due to both the nature and style of traditional Muay Thai Boxing, evasiveness is key, which can be the winning factor in many fights. Due to that, the wrist needs to be made narrow to allow for punches in close proximity.
The gloves also have a joint thump and padding on the inner section of the glove. The joint thumb is to keep your thumb safe, and should be always checked before buying. The joint thumb doesn't allow your thumb to separate from the fist, hence not allowing it to bend backwards. The inner padding is a function only found in Muay Thai gloves, this is because in Muay Thai, many times the kicks can be stopped by the inner palm rather than the outer palm, which will be less sensible and more painful. Hence the padding towards the inside allows for the kicks shock to be absorbed, and only allow the minimal shock left to go to your palm, rather than if it were not without padding, the whole shock of the kick will go straight to the palm.
