How to play:

Take to the battle field and raise your weapons for Unmacthed: Battle of Legend's Vol. 2. This instalment features legendary heroes and an extra 'high ground' game mechanic.

Each hero has a unique deck of cards that will assist them in battle. Despite his weakened heel, Archilles and his sidekick Patroclus work together to survive, Sun Wukong hides behind his many clones, Bloody Mary is vicious with her chain attack and Yennenga will destroy her opponents with her army! The last player standing will be victorious.

Players take turns manoeuvring their fighters on the battlefield, playing schemes, and attacking their opponent's fighters.

On your turn, you must take 2 actions; you cannot skip an action. You may choose two different actions or the same action twice. The possible actions are:

Manoeuver: when you take the manoeuvre action, you first draw the top card of your deck, then you may move your fighters.

Attack: when you take the attack action, you must declare which of your fighters is performing the attack; they are the active fighter. You may not take the attack action if you do not have an attack card in hand or if none of your fighters have valid targets to attack.

Scheme: when you take the scheme action, you choose a scheme card from your hand and play it onto the table, face up. You must declare which of your fighters is playing the scheme card. Each card in your deck indicates which fighters are allowed to play it.

You have a hand limit of seven cards. At the end of your turn, if you have more than seven cards in your hand, you must discard down to seven cards, placing any discarded cards in your discard pile. Then it is your opponent's turn.

Reduce your opponents health to ZERO and you are the winner!

Bonus!

You can mix and match characters from any Unmatched set! Combine with Battle of Legends Vol.1 for the ultimate brawl!

Diverse, hilarious, and fun
Format: Paperback
This was soooo fun, and what it lacked in patchy storytelling made up for in its incredible art and lovable characters. The main character is latina, fat, and queer, the love interest is black and queer (yes, it's f/f romance!), and the prominent side character is non-binary, queer, and literally a mix of kenji and kuzco from the emporer's new groove (they were SO sweet but funny and definitely my favorite part of the book). Not to mention all of these characters are mythological creatures! I loved reading the characters' interactions because the banter was so cute and fun, both platonic and romanticly. The action began to get a bit confusing toward the end and I wish it was explained better what was happening, but I loved the world building and the characters' relationships with each other so I'm definitely continuing this series.

Format: Paperback
It's cute book. the art is great and really helps to set the scene of this magical world. I took issue with the characters and the narrative. The main character is a werewolf who is very self conscious about it but it's never really clear since apparently, there are not only plenty of werewolves but also people who can shift into other animals. Her best friend is a centaur who I found a little grating with his "lol XD so random" personality. I didn't find much fault with the girlfriend character but I didn't understand their relationship. the main character starts the book having had one date with her girlfriend they seem to have some issues (over what I thought was very minor things) and decide at the end of the book to go to couple's therapy to solve them but like, they weren't together for that. I assume maybe a month has passed, just break up. I just didn't understand that. The narrative itself didn't seem tight. One character has cryptic visions that didn't really seem to pan out or really have the gravity she seemed to put to them. there is a meta narrative involving a book the main character likes and the events in that book mirror the events in the comic but I didn't really see it that strongly and it seemed to have little use. The main conflict seems to be solved very quickly and with little fanfare. All in all, it's not a bad book. i just found it a bit weak. It's not amazing, nor above average. But it's also not garbage or terrible. It's won't have the greatest of appeal but I'm not upset I bought it and it's not a waste of time. However, I wouldn't read any additional work of this series.
