The incidental music for Olympie was written in 1791 for a production of the play. Earlier that year, Kraus's friend and librettist Johan Henrik Kellgren, who had a particular interest in French tragedy, undertook the revision and updating of Voltaire's well-known play of the same name. He was interested in the adaptability of language - the translation of those parts taken directly from the French are skillful and literal - and the dramatic potential of the plot, in which the princess Olympie is torn between a marriage of state and true love. It is clear that the author did not envision accompanying music for the work; the only "musical" stage directions are for a march that occurs in the first act when Olympie's husband to be arrives amid pomp and circumstance. Sometime during the Fall of 1791, however, Kraus was approached to provide appropriate music that would link the five acts of the tragedy. He composed a series of seven movements consisting of a powerful D minor overture, which devolved directly into a short on-stage march that opens the first act, four entr'actes, and a funereal epilogue. Apart from the lengthy overture, all are short episodes consisting of mood linkages between the denouement of the previous act and foreshadowing the action of the coming one. For instance, the on-stage march appears in the first entr'acte juxtaposed with restless string tremolos, indicating that the official betrothal of Olympie is underlain by unpleasant emotional currents that provide a conflict between her duty and feelings. The entr'acte between the third and fourth acts shows the pensive interlude of the lovers when then have found time to pledge their faith, knowing that such is empty. Kraus's music is unobtrusive, created to provide a brief dramatic link rather than supporting the drama, such as one might find in Beethoven's later music for Goethe's Egmont. The overture, perhaps the best known of this composer's works in modern times, is a tour-de-force of Sturm und Drang passion, with its skirling string figures, spare wind chords, and sweeping themes. All in all, the music, especially the overture, is a more universal work than the play for which it was intended. Indeed, Kellgren's work lasted only a short while on the Stockholm stage beyond its premire on January 7, 1792, but Kraus's music was reused as fitting incidental movements for various other plays up to 1821, when it was indelibly associated with Friedrich von Schiller's Maria Stuart. This edition is based upon a score copied by Fredrik Silverstolpe, now at the Universitetsbibliotek, Uppsala, where it is listed as Instrumental musik i handskrift Capsula 33. This is a copy made in 1804 from the original autograph score, which was probably destroyed in the fire at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in 1827. Comparisons were made with the original parts in the Operans Bibliotek in Stockholm (Operetter M 9 No. 232), copied by Friedrich Gottlob Ficker, the chief copyist of the Royal Opera. The manuscript is precise in all details, requiring virtually no emendations other than to modernize it to current score standards. Kraus's placement of slurs, articulation and dynamic markings, etc. have been followed. Only in the first entr'acte, where the on stage band and the main orchestra are given in a single score, has the editor divided the ensembles. This, however, follows the directions of the source. Best smelling lotion on the market, hands down
Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I am a huge Maui Babe fan. It is, hands down, the best smelling lotion on the market, and I am obsessed with it. It's very smooth and refreshing when I put it on, and it does not leave any sort of sticky residue or greasiness. It's my absolute favorite and I always tell people about it when they comment on how nice I smell :)

The Maui Babe lotion is truly amazing! It smells wonderful and goes on light
Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
First of all, let me start of saying I never write reviews, so I hope that tells you something. I bought this lotion while my husband and I were in Hawai'i on our honeymoon. I have freckles with semi-fair skin, so I tend to burn - then tan. The Maui Babe lotion is truly amazing! It smells wonderful and goes on light. We had a Jeep while visiting Hawai'i for 10 days, so I ended up with a slight case of sun poisoning on my chest. I applied the Maui Babe and Aloe for 2 days, and the sun poisoning was gone. I didn't peal AT ALL!! In addition, I literally kept my tan for at least three weeks after returning from Hawai'i. One of the more interesting things; I have noticed a difference in my skin. I have never been much of a makeup person, as I like the natural look. Mascara is it. I am 35, so age is slowly creeping up. I started using Vitamin C serum a year ago, but didn't notice much of a difference. After two weeks of using the Maui Babe; my face had a glow and looks so healthy. My fine lines seem to be less and my skin looks more alive. The lotion doesn't irritate my skin one bit, nor did it cause me to have any sort of pimples; however, I am blessed to have never had an issue in that department. I don't know if it will do the same for you that it has done for me, but I feel that the natural ingredients in this secret lotion are magic. Sometimes it's the simplest things that do the trick. I have everyone in my family using it. I highly recommend it!!

A must have for beach babes!
Size: 4 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
I absolutely love this lotion. If you want to keep your tan longer, and avoid immediate or even soon after peeling, this really works. To sum, it moisturized, prevented peeling and maintained my tan throughout the spring into the summer. The long story-- I began using this product at the end of spring, right after I returned from a Bahamaian vacation in the early spring. I naturally have a year round tan, but in the sun, I become browner and love to maintain that summer bronze glow that happens when I frolic on the beach for days. I knew it was going to be awhile before I could regularly go to the beach so I saw this product and decided to try. I used to not peel, but once I hit my 30s I began to peel regularly, after tanning. Once I started using this, I did not peel AT ALL. And, my tan did not fade. Yes, I still went to the beach with a base tan (which helps when tanning), but I am sure it would've faded quicker without this product. I also didn't start peeling until I ran out of this product. I use it everyday after getting out of the shower, all over my body. I have sensitive skin, and it didn't seem to bother it at all, and it has a light pleasant smell (not strong coconut-y). I highly recommend! Oh, because it's so light, it may not seem to be absorbing properly, but no worries-- it does, without clogging!
