Bowman Brothers Small Batch Virginia Straight, 750mlJohn, Abraham, Joseph, and Isaac Bowman were officers in the Revolutionary War. In 1779, they led families to Kentucky and founded Bowmans Station. Smith Bowman does not disclose their source or produce their own distillate. Bowman Brothers Small Batch is triple distilled and aged on-site in eight barrel batches for 6-7 years. This hand-crafted bourbon is a tribute to the Bowman brothers and features hints of vanilla and oak from the finest corn, rye, and malted barley.
The scent is warm and inviting, with hints of brown sugar, cinnamon, and oak, as well as a subtle touch of floral potpourri. As you swirl the glass, you'll also detect sweet aromas of candy apple, peach, and custard. I was pleasantly surprised by the complexity of the nose.
The oily, thick texture is immediately apparent, with medium-intensity flavors of vanilla, toffee, roasted nuts, and toasted oak. Despite its sweeter flavors, the overall dryness keeps them in balance. While a bit rough around the edges, this bourbon has a solid foundation.
The spicy flavor of Bowman Brothers Small Batch Virginia Straight, 750ml gives a fiery kick without being overly hot, with notes of toasted oak, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. The unique taste makes for an interesting experience, though it may not be everyone's favorite.
