The growth rings are exceptionally closely spaced, similar to the rings seen in Old Growth lumber. This is due to the San Juan archipelago being in the rain shadow of the Olympic Peninsula. Total annual rain on the San Juans is approximately 25 inches, as compared to the 100+ inches received in the
| Douglas Fir Bowl Blank DF71 5.7" x 10.3" x 13" 13 lbs. This is a beautiful half-log bowl blank of slow-growth Douglas Fir from the San Juan Islands. The growth rings are exceptionally closely-spaced, similar to the rings seen in Old Growth lumber. This is due to the San Juan archipelago being in the rain shadow of the Olympic Peninsula. Total annual rain on the San Juans is approximately 25 inches, as compared to the 100+ inches received in the Olympic Mountains. The trees here are generally secondary growth and what we refer to as "slow growth" with their tight growth ring spacing. This half-log bowl blank includes heartwood, sapwood, and bark. The heartwood is a light reddish-brown with an orange tint. The sapwood is much lighter than the heartwood and ranges from pale yellowish-white to a light cream color. The bark is dark brown to reddish-brown; its texture is rough and deeply furrowed. The bark is complete and well-attached. With the bark on the backside, you have the option of turning a conventional bowl or a "barky" natural-edge bowl. However, if you want a full bark edge on the "natural" rim, you will need to secure the bark with CA glue before and possibly during turning. This is a GREEN to partially air-dried bowl blank, meaning that it still retains a lot of its original moisture from when it was a living tree. It has been well-sealed with Anchor Seal and is in the process of slowly drying. It was measured at 22-25% MC in September 2023. Easy assembly

Super easy assembly, one screw in tree trunk is unscrewed to place bowl and tree together - Phillips screwdriver needed. I bought the silver ring holder which perfectly suits my personality and decorative style. Can't tell you how wonderful it feels to finally have all of my rings off of my desk and stored in an easy to find place! Space saving is high on my list because I currently live in a 28' camper, so do not have my larger jewelry boxes in here with me. It only arrived today (7/28/2019) so this is with only a single days use, but am very pleased with the purchase and value for the ring holder - I was specifically looking for an inexpensive metal ring tree versus a plastic one.

Great starter set for finding the right hoop size

Bought these for my girlfriend and we both ended up really liking them. I actually liked that this set came with multiple sizes because it let her try different looks before deciding what size she likes most. It was a nice way to test things out before spending more money on real gold earrings. They look good, feel lightweight, and have been a fun way to figure out her preference.

Great value and super cute!

These earrings are a yellow gold which I like, and they’ve held up really well the past few days in the shower and with daily wear. These feel high quality and as long as you arent rough with the clasps, these should last you a long time. These are affordable for the quality. I don’t think these will tarnish, and they haven’t lost any shine. The ones in the picture are the smallest size, but I love the others too. They are comfortable to wear and very light weight, whereas others I’ve tried have been heavy or not sturdy enough for daily wear. I would definitely recommend buying these!
