Douglas Fir Block DF69 3.5" x 3.8" x 6.8" 1.8 lbs. This is a slow-growth block of Douglas Fir from the San Juan Islands of Washington. The growth rings are exceptionally closely-spaced, similar to the rings seen in Old Growth lumber. This is due to the San Juan archipelago being in the rain shadow of the Olympic Peninsula. Total annual rain on the San Juans is approximately 25 inches, as compared to the 100+ inches received in the Olympic Mountains. The trees here are generally secondary growth and what we refer to as "slow growth" with their tight growth ring spacing. The color on this Douglas Fir is a warm warm reddish-brown with a hint of orange. The growth rings are exceptionally finely-spaced, with 10-15 years of growh present in each radial inch of lumber. This block has been air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. There is one wane ege as shown in the photos. |

Fast and easy but I dont trust the process to be fully automated.
The process was very smooth and fairly quick. The only challenge I had was that the CLAIM status showed complete but I had to manually go look up the status. There was no email or notification it was closed. After manually checking the status, I called customer support and they said since I called in, they would process the payout. I wonder if I didnt call in if they would have processed it? Also, the phone rep said they would issue me a amazon egift card but then the next day I received a email saying they mailed out the payout. Very poor communication but so far the process was easy and fast.

Don't waste your time. They'll just deny claim
Not a very reliable form of insurance. I had to file a claim on a 2 month old bedframe and they gave me the run around until I contacted Amazon.

No hassle to file and get a claim resolved.
I have to say, I expected a lot of hoops to jump through. Companies are all very eager to take your money, but when it comes time to pay out, in this case (Product Insurance) quite often it is a different story. But to my surprise that is not the case with Asurion. I submited my claim, and a few days latter I received my check. At 77 and retired from the computer field i have seen alot of things with companies that do not care about customer service and satisfaction. But when you make a purchase from Amazon with their 30 day return policy and Asurion insurance. You can't beat it.
