These candles are sustainable, vegan, gentle to earth and to humans, and are made by a small family owned Japanese candle maker Daiyo established in 1914 in Shiga prefecture.

Japanese candles are completely handmade and give very little smoke and larger and brighter flame than modern paraffin candles. Unlike traditional Ha-ze sumac candles, these rice bran wax candles are made using casts, although all are handmade.

• Each candle has a small hole at the bottom and it needs to be used on the right size candle stand with a stick that is specially made for Japanese candles.
