A 15-inch hand-carved natural stone marble chess set — warm matte travertine border and dark squares against clean polished white marble light squares, 32 tournament-size Staunton pieces, 2 extra queens, and a rigid black carry case with fabric handle — weighing 10.5 pounds total with free US shipping. With 4 verified reviews confirming real-world performance across home play and display use, this is the warm-bordered alternative to the white-bordered White+Travertine tournament format — a cool chess set where natural travertine frames the board at room level while polished white marble creates clean contrast at playing height.

What This Travertine and White Marble Chess Set Includes

  • 15-inch travertine-bordered board with polished white marble light squares — 14.96" × 14.96" × 0.04" exact, 10.5 lbs total: The board is a solid stone slab with a warm beige-cream travertine border surround and alternating travertine and white marble inlaid squares across the full 15-inch playing surface. The travertine border and dark squares share the same warm beige-cream matte surface — characteristic heavy natural pitting visible across the full border and all dark squares, confirmed clearly in the product image. The white marble light squares are polished to a clean bright finish — subtle natural grey veining visible on the polished white surface. The result is a board that reads as a warm natural stone object from across a room — the travertine border dominates the board silhouette at room level — while delivering the clean white marble versus warm travertine contrast at playing height. This is the opposite room tone from the White+Travertine Tournament Set where a white marble border makes the board read as a light, clean object — here the travertine border creates a warm, organic board presence. The board base has an attached felt pad protecting any table surface. At 14.96 × 14.96 inches and 10.5 pounds this is the full tournament-size format — every square has substantially more piece clearance than the 12-inch compact sets
  • 32 hand-carved tournament-size Staunton stone pieces — King at 3.5 inches, confirmed individual weights: Every piece is individually hand-carved from genuine natural stone in classic Staunton form. The dark side is natural travertine — warm beige-cream with heavy characteristic surface pitting visible across every carved piece surface, confirmed from the piece closeup in the product image where the Rook, Pawn, and King all show pronounced pitting throughout their carved surfaces. The light side is polished white marble — clean bright white with smooth polished surface and subtle natural grey veining visible at close range on the Rook and Knight in the product image. The contrast between sides is material — matte heavily pitted warm travertine versus smooth polished clean white marble — rather than tonal, since both materials sit within the warm neutral palette. Individual piece weights confirmed: King 0.21 lbs · Queen 0.19 lbs · Bishop 0.14 lbs · Knight 0.14 lbs · Rook 0.19 lbs · Pawn 0.15 lbs. Every piece has an attached felt base pad protecting the board surface during play
  • 2 extra queens — 1 white marble + 1 travertine, both at full tournament Queen height: Both extra queens are full-size hand-carved stone pieces at the full 3-inch tournament Queen height — one polished white marble queen and one warm matte travertine queen. Both match the playing queens exactly in height, form, and material. Both store in the rigid carry case alongside the full 32-piece set
  • Rigid black carry case with fabric handle — confirmed from product image: The top-left panel of the product image shows the rigid black hard case open with all pieces organized in the foam interior — white marble pieces in the top section and travertine pieces in the bottom section. The black fabric carry handle is visible on the top edge of the case. The rigid construction protects all 34 stone pieces during transport and storage, and the foam interior cutouts prevent piece-to-piece contact — the primary cause of surface chipping in natural stone chess sets without dedicated protective storage
  • Tournament-size format — 10.5 pounds of genuine stone, King at 3.5 inches: At 10.5 pounds total the complete 15-inch set delivers genuine stone weight across the full tournament format. The King stands at 3.5 inches — within standard tournament piece proportion specifications — with Queen at 3 inches, Bishop, Knight, and Rook at 2.75 inches each, and Pawns at 2.25 inches. The confirmed individual piece weights from King at 0.21 lbs to Pawn at 0.15 lbs come entirely from genuine natural stone density — not from added metal ballast inside hollow pieces as used in some plastic tournament sets

Why the Travertine Border Makes This a Different Chess Set From the White and Travertine Tournament Set

The Speshstones 15-inch chess catalog includes two products that share the same two stone materials — white marble and travertine — and the same piece form, piece dimensions, and piece weights. The difference between them is the board border material, which determines how the board reads as a room object between games.

The White and Travertine Tournament Set has a white marble border — the board reads as a light, clean natural stone object at room level. The bright polished white border coordinates with white tile, chrome hardware, and minimalist interior palettes. The White+Travertine board presents as a clean contemporary stone object regardless of the room's existing warm or cool palette.

This Travertine and White Marble Chess Set has a travertine border — the board reads as a warm, organic natural stone object at room level. The warm beige-cream matte travertine border with its heavy characteristic pitting coordinates with wood furniture, linen textiles, warm stone surfaces, and organic modern interior palettes in a way that a white marble border does not. From across a room the travertine-bordered board is visually absorbed into the warm palette of the room rather than presenting as a bright white geometric object against warm surfaces.

At playing height the contrast experience is the same for both products — white marble pieces and squares versus travertine pieces and squares — because the piece sides are identical between the two sets. The board border does not participate in gameplay directly. The choice between the two products is therefore an interior design decision rather than a gameplay decision — choose this Travertine+White set if your room has warm wood, linen, natural stone, or organic modern tones. Choose the White+Travertine Tournament Set if your room has a minimalist, Scandinavian, or cool neutral palette.

Materials & Craftsmanship

This handmade chess set is carved from two genuine natural stones — natural travertine and white marble — that together create the two-tone board surface and two opposing piece sets. Natural travertine is a sedimentary limestone formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonate from natural spring water — creating the characteristic warm beige-cream color, heavy natural pitting, and fossil inclusions that distinguish travertine from all polished marble types. The travertine pieces and board areas in this set show pronounced characteristic pitting — visible on every carved piece surface in the piece closeup and across the full board border and dark squares at playing height. White marble is a metamorphic rock formed when limestone is subjected to extreme geological heat and pressure — recrystallizing calcium carbonate into the dense interlocking crystal structure that gives marble its characteristic hardness, smooth polished surface, and calcite veining. The polished white marble light squares and 16 white marble pieces have the clean bright surface confirmed from the product image — the Rook and Knight in the piece closeup show smooth polished white stone with subtle natural grey veining at close range. The board combines both stones — warm matte travertine border and dark squares against polished white marble light squares — inlaid into a single solid stone base. Every piece is individually hand-carved from genuine natural stone in classic Staunton form. No paint. No dye. No coating. The warm beige of the travertine pieces comes from genuine sedimentary limestone material. The clean white of the marble pieces comes from genuine metamorphic rock mineral content. Natural variation between pieces confirms genuine stone — the pitting distribution on each travertine piece and the subtle veining on each white marble piece differ because each piece is carved from a separate block of natural stone.

How to Care for Your Travertine and White Marble Chess Set

This natural stone chess set requires minimal care between play and display sessions. For the board, wipe the full 15-inch playing surface including the travertine border with a soft damp cloth after each session to remove fingerprint oils and dust from both the matte travertine areas and the polished white marble light squares. The polished white marble light squares show fingerprint marks and dust more readily against the bright white surface than the matte travertine — a quick damp cloth wipe after each session maintains the clean white marble finish. The travertine border and dark squares have heavy natural pitting that collects fine dust during display periods — use a soft brush with mild pH-neutral soap during weekly deeper cleaning to clear any debris from within the pitting on both the board travertine areas and all 16 travertine pieces. For the white marble pieces, wipe each piece with a soft damp microfibre cloth — the smooth polished surface cleans completely in one pass. Do not use vinegar, lemon juice, citrus-based sprays, or bleach on any marble or travertine surface — these permanently etch the polished white marble and dull the matte travertine on both board and pieces. The white marble light squares and white marble pieces are particularly sensitive to acidic contact — use only clean water or pH-neutral soap for cleaning. Always lift pieces during play — never slide stone pieces across the board surface. Store all 34 pieces in the rigid carry case between sessions. Apply a food-safe penetrating stone sealer to all surfaces once or twice a year to maintain both stone finishes long-term.

fallen destiny? more like destined to fall in love
Format: Kindle
Kieran is an angel, but she doesn't have an affinity. Nothing angers her father more. If she doesn't find an affinity soon she will be cast to earth & have her wings removed. But she has the choice to become a fallen angel, wings turn black, & live her life on edge. Towards the end of the book things start to make sense. Gabe’s nickname for Kieran, Steele’a hatred, Bastian’s belief that Kieran is powerful. This book ended literally during a war? As one of her friends was injured, and admitted a bit secret? Talk about cliff hanger. The next book comes out August 5th.

Well holy moly!
Format: Kindle
Holy moly that story definitely had me hooked! Kieran was definitely a character that I immediately adored. She has obviously had to deal with a butt load of too high expectations from her father (who is 🤬).. She has been helpless when it came to finding out her affinity with so many years of no answers & perceived failure. When Ronan, gives her a small inkling of hope that she be a Beast Tamer, she jumps into it. But again she doesn’t seem to fit. But when she runs into Gabe again, she ends up helping him & rethinking her life in Alfemir. And when the opportunity comes she decides leaving is the best option. But when Ronan demands he comes with her & then the random appearance of Bastian, she is feeling very overwhelmed. After she chooses to fall with them, they land on earth exactly where Gabe is located only to run into Steele who is a person that I was finding hard to like. After training, she eventually finds out she does have an affinity & it’s one that no longer exist & is incredibly powerful but also has a prophecy attached to it. I feel incredibly bad for her on she learns about the prophecy & Steele’s connection with it too. But that ending, with the battle scene & Niz….yeah definitely was not expecting that but hello I am all here for it too! Absolutely amazing start of a series & I for sure will be waiting for the next one to come out. Amazing job!

So good!
Format: Kindle
Wings of Stars was a fantastic first book to a new series. It grabbed me in its clutches within the first chapter and kept ahold of me. This new world of M Sinclair and RL Caulder’s is all about angels and mythical creatures. It’s full of drama from all points. From Kieran’s awful home life to keeping the stars alive and everything in between. Kieran is our FMC and despite everything she keeps her spirit and defiance. Keeping to their norm, there is a group of guys for our FMC but they definitely aren’t established yet, and not fully cemented yet into being a group rather than her choosing between them. Ronan is so sweet and gives off Daddy vibes Gabe is also sweet and wants the best of everything for Kieran and will defend her against anyone Bastian is slightly unhinged but I loved him immediately Steele is a jerk… just as you find redeeming qualities, he screws up again… but yet I still want him to redeem himself. There’s another one… but if I gave his name I would be spoiling a plot twist so you will just have to find out yourself… but you’ll love him as much as I do. This is a slow burn but the little bit of spice we do get is hot, especially with the dirty talk.

Angels and the Fallen — Breathtaking Start
Format: Kindle
This book was EVERYTHING I expected it to be and more. Leave to R.L. Caulder and M. Sinclair to give us yet another amazing book! Kieran and her guys hooked me from the very beginning and did not let go. Found family is one of my favorite tropes and it was done so well in this book. Couple that along with an FMC trying to find her place in the world and I was practically drooling over this book. The world building, the conflict, the wyverin sidekick — it all was done so well that it felt fresh and real. Each love interest felt real and unique in their own ways. I felt connected to each one and like they were truly different people. I love that so much in a book and these two authors never miss with their love interests. Multi POV, Reverse harem, who did this to you, and a magical world highlighting the angels and the fallen. This book has everything and it does it so well. Big thank you to R.L. Caulder and M. Sinclair for the arc copy! I cannot wait for book 2!

A new take 🤔
Format: Kindle
I’m not going to go into what this book is about — by now you e already read the synopsis and have an idea — but I will give a couple of insights. Definitely a different take on angels and their fall; I like it. This is an interesting start to a new series - YES, this does end on a cliffhanger so be prepared for that. I’m eager for the next book (and hopefully the last in this series — sometimes the author(s) will switch it up depending on how the story flows for them) in this series. I’m hoping that a certain male character redeems himself because he’s a dick that will make the meaning of mixed signals jealous lol. You ever watch that old movie — I think it’s call Mommy Dearest? — yea, let’s switch that up to daddy. That man would make a perfect husband to mommy dearest. I recommend this book because while these authors are well known for their cliffhangers, they are also well known for putting out good stories.
