Stoptech Cross-Drilled rotors are 1-piece, drilled, direct replacement discs for your factory brake system and stock calipers. They offer improved cooling as well as other advantages the competition doesn't offer. Innovations include e-coating, double-disc grinding, full machining, mill balancing and center-split castings, as well as the availability of directional vanes, cryogenic treatment and the use of Power Alloy. Today, Stoptech Cross-Drilled covers more than 2500 applications, all machined in Stoptech Cross-Drilled California manufacturing center. Every Stoptech Cross-Drilled rotor is a direct replacement for a factory brake rotor, allowing the retention of factory calipers in the system.

 

Most Stoptech Cross-Drilled rotors match the original factory cooling vane design. In the most popular sports car and light truck applications, Stoptech Cross-Drilled has improved the design by using directional (left- and right-handed) vanes to improve cooling. This represents a distinct upgrade from the original equipment rotors, which usually feature a straight vane or pillar vane design. The directional vane is a more efficient air pump. The resulting increase in airflow translates into greater resistance to brake fade and faster recovery from temperature spikes generated by aggressive braking maneuvers.

 

Every Stoptech Cross-Drilled rotor is finished with a black e-coating on both sides of the hat, inside the cooling vanes and on the outside edge. E-coating is a superior electro-statically applied finish designed to withstand 400 hours of salt water exposure without rusting. This is especially important on both mounting faces of the hat where it touches the hub flange and back face of the wheel. Any accumulation of rust in these areas can lead to installed lateral runout issues.

 

Stoptech Cross-Drilled rotors feature a double disc ground, taper free finish. Double disc grinding ensures parallelism, eliminates run out and provides near perfect disc thickness variation (DTV). Double disc grinding leaves a non-directional finish on the friction surface area for more effective pad and rotor break-in. This special finish also provides quieter and smoother stops.

 

Stoptech Cross-Drilled rotors feature 100 percent fully machined finishes including rotor hats. This extra process provides better rotor balance and creates a cleaner, more finished looking component.

 

Stoptech Cross-Drilled brake rotors are mill balanced to a tolerance of less than 2 oz-inch. This additional machining operation reduces feedback associated with rotor vibration and provides a smooth, confident application of braking force.

 

Center-split core castings provide proper heat transfer and thermal efficiency, resulting in superior braking power and safety.

 

Power Alloy metallurgy is another unique feature in many of Stoptech Cross-Drilled's rotors. Quality and performance live inside the rotor too. Choosing the correct foundry partner and working to improve the metallurgy are all part of Stoptech Cross-Drilled's continuous improvement process that helps to reach established targets for hardness and tensile strength. Many of Stoptech Cross-Drilled's top-selling part numbers are cast using this Power Alloy iron specification, an enhancement in the carbon and molybdenum content of the iron. Carbon and molybdenum promote crack resistance and improve noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).

I didn't want to like this book, thinking it would be another how-to-have-the perfect-Christmas book. It's not that. I liked it so much I bought it for my friends. It's an exquisitely beautiful, thoughtful, joyful week by week story of preparation for the celebration of the Nativity. The author shares her own traditions, her recipes, book lists and song lists in a week-by-week format of suggestions that are easily adaptable to your own family situation. Perhaps most important, she shares her experience of deep grief in a season when joy is expected. No matter your life situation - single, married with little or big children, empty nester - Glad and Golden Hours can be like sitting with a friend for a few minutes a day, a friend who encourages you to take time for what's really important, to take joy where you find it, to maybe rethink what Advent and the Christmas season mean for you (and your family.) I ended up loving this book I didn't even want to like.

Wonderful book that just got better as it went on, with the last three chapters being my favorites! In today's distracted, entertainment-tainted culture, it may seem impossible but is imperative for us to cultivate quiet in our lives. Most of us know this, yet we still shun such moments of hush even when a way shows itself open to us. As Sarah wrote, we hold our phones as a shield, protecting ourselves from "the chill nakedness of our discontent and shame, our fear and desire". In her insightful book, Sarah asks us, "Have you stood like a watchman on the walls of your heart through the witching hour of dusk when the horizons of productivity and familiarity give way to some vast realm just beyond your understanding, a realm that is both your terror and your deep desire?" Yet, as Sarah so rightly points out, we do not only meet ourselves in that vast, spacious place of quiet; we meet God, "that great word speaking us back into life" and "the light burning at the back of our eyes so that we look upon the world in the brightness of his companionship". Sarah's book is a treasure of her own personal stories and struggles, and the insights birthed from the living of them. One of my favorite chapters was the Wise Woman's Cottage, an excellent analogy for the gift of imagination, one of the gifts of quiet Sarah explores in her book's concluding chapters. The way she weaves the story of C. S. Lewis into her contemplations brought tears to my eyes. Yet, the chapter that drew those tears out of my eyes was the following one in which Sarah shared a true story akin (at least in my mind) to that of Lucy's in Prince Caspian, a story that calls us to courage and obedience in heeding God's voice, even when the message comes only to us. "When I listen for God's voice, I find he doesn't just speak generally; he speaks particularly, to me. Quiet restores us to the wondrous autonomy of finding that God truly does come to speak to those who love him as Father and Friend. Of course, we listen, and that kind of listening can change the course of our lives...There is only one Voice whose words will always tell us true". Such wondrous words, though, can call on our courage to obey when those on the outside of God's inner promptings lack His perspective on the matter. Sarah's personal story in this chapter burned my eyes with sympathy and - when I read the encouragement she received -joy. The last chapter of this potent book was one I would not have guessed to move me as it did. The reminder that quiet "offers the space in which we may give voice to" our anguish and wrestling "so that they do not destroy us" because, "in God's hands...our lament becomes the companion leading us to the source of our lost joy". Oh, how true. Oh, how beautiful: that quiet offers us the gift of lament, which is itself a grace as "it bears at heart the belief in the reality of joy" (a truth Sarah's sister, Joy Clarkson, explored in her insightful book Aggressively Happy, in which I was reminded that sadness speaks truth to us just as joy does; we are sad because of a loss we *should* be enjoying, something we were meant to have or experience, which will one day be redeemed). In offering our laments up to God, we can then hear his words of comfort, truth, hope and assurance just as Job did, but quiet is necessary for such a divine exchange to be experienced.

A refuge in the noise of life

There are some books that are so good, so nourishing, so deeply satisfying and life giving to read that it is hard to know how to write a review that does them justice. This is one of those books. As if she is sitting across the cafe table from you, drinking her coffee and sharing her life, Sarah is a master story teller who captivates your attention as she tells story after story that pertains to her personal quest and exploration of the pursuit of Quiet. The chapters have titles such as "the halcyon day", "wise woman's cottage", and "seeing from the inside". Subtitles include "imagination, "assent and amazement", and "cadence". Split into sections (the nature of quiet, the shape of quiet, the gifts of quiet) this book takes the subject of a True Quiet and wrestles, examines, instructs about, and celebrates it from all angles. I've read books that talk about how to have new habits and rhythms, slowing down in our busy social media filled age, and bringing order the the chaos of daily life, but this book trumps them all with the questions it asks, the way in which she communicates what she has learned. Every chapter ends with prayer and more questions and thoughts to ponder. The structure lends beautifully to a small group discussion. I know I will be rereading and pondering over the ideas in this book for a long time (I am not usually a highlighter and book marker but this one is covered with passages I just had to mark and remember). This is a perfect book to read as we enter the end-year holiday season and I want to give to all my friends and family to nurture and encourage their souls. Sarah pulls from across her lifetime with her personal experiences, lessons, and tales, so I believe you can read this at any stage of adulthood and you will be encouraged and strengthened in your faith. This will be a book you keep reaching for it again and again that will continue to instruct, encourage, and inspire you across the years. It should say "Welcome weary traveler, enter to find rest". (This is probably one of the longest reviews I've ever written so bear with me if there are typos.)
