Maton Guitars 808C JR Signature PRE-OWNED - 16448

It is rare to see a pre-owned Maton, much less the ever popular Joe Robinson Signature model. This gently used guitar was purchased in April of this year, as one of a pair of Maton Guitars. The customer is winnowing his collection down to just one guitar, keeping the other Maton.

Other than a single "mini-micro" mark on the headstock near one of the tuning pegs, and some light pick marks on the pick guard, this guitar would easily pass for "new". Either of these are worthy to mention, though hardly recognizable to the human eye (surely not our camera lens).

Here's copy from our original post, which certainly still applies:

The J.R. Signature model is the next chapter of a relationship that stretches back almost 15 years. Joe first visited Artisan Guitars during his introduction to Nashville while here for a recording session. Since that time Joe has met and performed with some of Nashville's finest "A-list" players. He accelerated well beyond his youth as a professional side man who can sit in with the top players in the world.

We are proud to announce the release of the Joe Robinson Signature Model Guitar.

One of the most inspiring players and singer/songwriters in the industry today, 29-year-old Australian native Joe Robinson has always been demanding of his instruments, and has been incredibly particular about the specifications. The J.R. Signature Model features Tasmanian Myrtle back and sides with a spruce top, jumbo frets, an ultra-playable neck, and the lightest satin finish possible.

“I’ve been playing Maton guitars since I was 14 years old," Robinson said. “They really are a huge part of my sound, and it means a lot that the relationship has moved to this level. I am so proud of this signature guitar. It is everything I hoped it would be and more. The sound, feel and build quality are impeccable. I am so happy this guitar is now out in the world for others to enjoy.“

The proprietary Maton "808" body shape is similar, though slightly smaller that the US OM Model. However, the standard body depth of the 808 is substantially deeper at 4-7/8". This is significant, as moving the top and back further apart enhances the bass element within the tonal character of the voicing (bracing technique), complimenting the different wood combination.

In its 5th generation, the AP5 Pro features an internal Microphone and 6-Piezo bridge input, with controls that allow for blending of both microphone and piezo levels prior to sending the actively combined signals through the well engineered pre-amp.

The highly selective cardioid microphone system allows for much greater microphone level before feedback in live environments. This upgraded AP5-Pro microphone is direct mounted to the pre-amp casing with an adjustable arm, which permits easy final tweaking of microphone position to suit the individual artist's playing style.

Using the ‘Sweep-able Mid’ controls. Mid-range is sweep-able from 600Hz to 2.4kHz and can be cut or boosted within this range. As a general rule we start out with all settings ‘flat’ then alter them to achieve the desired tone & presence based on the venue or recording environment. For example, an open, natural sound can be achieved by setting the frequency control at 1.4khz and the boost/cut control at 5db. Alternatively, for a ‘thick’ lead sound boost your Mid's by 5db and set the frequency dial at 1.7kh.

Nice shirt. Wrinkles alot.
Size: 4X-Large Big, Color: Light Grey Vertical Stripe
Like the style and construction of the shirt. Fit and finish are as expected. Unfortunately the fabric wrinkles easily. Definitely requires ironing. Wish this shirt was a wash and wear but it's definitely a wash and iron before wearing shirt. Otherwise I have no complaints. Fabric is lightweight and could be used in summer as a dress shirt.

Very nice shirts
Size: Large, Color: White
These are a heavier fabric than I was expecting but that’s fine since it’s winter. They barely shrink being washed in hot water and dried in a hot dryer. I was actually hoping that they would shrink a little more after losing 40 pounds. But they shrunk just a little and they fit just fine. Also, if you take them out of the dryer immediately there are very few wrinkles.

Dress shirt
Size: XX-Large Big Tall, Color: Powder Blue
The material is a nice quality and the color is very close to the picture but I think it’s a bit darker in person. It definitely doesn’t fit like a “tall” should though but I think if we would have sized up it would have been to big. Overall it was an ok purchase for what we needed it for but it is a bit short.

Fit check = great
Size: X-Large, Color: Light Grey Vertical Stripe
Happy to finally find a great shirt fit for both business and casual looks. This shirt line is made in Sri Lanka (not Bangladesh). It has a great fit around the shoulders and chest for a 40 year old American male. It fits true to form and was recommended to me directly by Grok AI based on my exact waist, chest and neck measurements. It doesn't pull tight across the chest, and fits really nice with a sport coat. It's comfortable and breathable, the fabric is thick and high quality. You can wear this tucked or untucked depending on the attire you need. I bought 2 and will definitely buy the rest of the color line up. I'd love to see more colors and patterns available in this fit.
